Books

"Portrait in Oils of a Young American Scalp" Major Salathiel Albine "The Bane of the Iroquois" Late of Gunset Hall, Richfield Springs, New York. Painted by Lieut. James Francis of the Royal American Regt. at Fort Pitt 1763, showing Albine as the "Little Turtle", just after his escaping adoption by the Shawnees. (Andrew Wyeth Esq.) - (The City In the Dawn - Hervey Allen)
Garrett Pendergas, Pendergast, or even Pendergaster, you could take your pick, for everyone knew him, was the host and patriarch of the establishment that overlooked the banks of the river just beyond and eastward of Fort Bedford.......... Somehow in himself he did personify the achievement of what so many had come into the wilderness to get: freedom, ease, and abundance. (The City In the Dawn - Hervey Allen)
The Forsyte Saga - by Galsworthy. This book has such sweep and emotion. It follows the life of an upper middle-class family from the Victorian Era to past the First World War. A real favorite of mine.
This is must reading for anyone who is a Freemason, or thinking about becoming one. This scholarly work traces the roots of Masonry back to the Knights Templar. Note the progression of the Sign of Solomon into the Square and Compasses.
This is an interesting (but inflamatory) book about the actor Errol Flynn. It follows his spectacular youth in the South Seas and right through his equally spectacular rise to Hollywood greatness - - and his tragic, self destructive life's end.
This is a picture of Errol Flynn in New Guinea at the age of 21. He oversaw the operation of a rubber plantation at the time. This pose is so typical of colonial rule at the time. (circa 1930)

Movies

This shows you that Errol Flynn was not the only one who could sport a pith helmet! Here is Edward Prince of Wales, Government House, Rangoon circa 1924. This was during one of his highly successful "tours" of the Empire! These tours established him as the golden haired boy of the entire World.
One of my favorite "more current" movies - "L.A. Confidential" It so perfectly portrays Los Angeles of the 1950's, the famous and the infamous. Kevin Spacey steals the show!
