It has been well recognized that application of adequate quantity of plant nutrients is the key to increase maize production. At present, there is only general recommendation for fertilization. There fore, there is an urgent need to develop site-specific nutrient recommendations (primary N-P-K). For these processing, soil test kit is developed together with soil identification manual in farmers field, with this guide book the user are able to identify the soil used to produce maize permitting proper recommendations. The CERES MAIZE model of the Decision Support System for Agro-technology Transfer (DSSAT) was used to determine the appropriate nitrogen application for the development of N fertilizer recommendation system of maize. The suitable rates of Phosphorus and Potassium were derived from PDSS. (Phosphorus Decision Support System) and previous research of DOA. Extension workers did the transfer technology of the fertilizer recommendation to the farmers.
