Comparative Studied on the Effective of the Importance Diseases on Commercial Corn Varieties

Abstract

Nowadays, corn disease gradually increase in corn plantation area because of changing of genetic base from OPV to hybrid.  Moreover, eco-system of host plant and causing agents were changed as well.  In 2001 and 2002, the studied on important diseases of commercial corn hybrid were carried out at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Centre in 3 seasons; dry, early, and late rainy seasons.  The result revealed that 10 hybrids Big 919, Big 727, Big 939, Novartis NK 27, CP DK 888, Big 717, Venus 49 G 5449, Pacific 328, CP DK 989, and Pacific 983 resistant to Northern  corn leaf blight caused by Helminthosporium turcicum. Pass.  There were 5 hybrids Pioneer 97 (30A97), Big 949, Pioneer P 77, Pioneer 10, and Pacific 626 resistant to southern corn rust caused by Puccinia polysola Undrew.  There were 10 hybrids; Red Iron 45 G 5445, Novartis NK 37, Novartis NK 46, Novartis NK 49 G 5449, CP DK 888, CP DK 9774, CP DK 9878, Pacific 6269, Big 717, and Big 939 resistant to Carbonum Leaf Spot caused by Helminthosporium carbonum Ullstrup.  There were 6 hybrids; Pacific 988, Pioneer 10, Pacific 626, Big 949, SW 3601, and Big 939 resistant to Sugarcane Mosaic Virus.  And 4 hybrids; X-2175, Uni-H max 07, NT 7201, and KSX 4501 resistant to Banded Leaf and Sheath Blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani
