Message from the DIRECTOR

In the year 2000, there are many out come from the Field Crops Research Institute, FCRI, research projects. These out come can be briefly summarized as the followings :

  1. New Field crops cultivars released.
    1. Two new peanut cvs released. These are: Kalasin 1 (KAC 1), and Kalasin 2 (KAC 431)
    2. Two sugar cane clones. These are: clone 90-2-029, and clone 90-2-318
    3. One soy bean line, this is SSR 8407Y-2-1
    4. One White Sesame line, this is LH 220
    5. One Cotton line, this is GDPSR38-136

All these seven new cultivars are approved by the Department of Agriculture Varieties Release Committee that can be released to the farmers, Details of these cultivars will be published in this Bulletin in the following issues. Now, foundation seed are produced by the FCRI and can be hand over to the farmers. In addition, any person, who interests on these varieties may request some small amount of foundation seed directly through the FCRI’s Director

2. At the same time, saveral package of production technologies were released the help Thai farmers increase their crops production e.g. increase yield per unit area, improve soil fertility, reduced soil erosion and improve sustainable crops production.
