Letter from the Editors

Even though, our progress in research and development on biotechnology is not advanced as we would like, we fell it is better to make some steps forward, otherwise we might be construed as being old dinosaurs. So, we begin with some results on the DNA fingerprinting of our current field crop varieties with, hopefully more information related to DNA being available soon. However, we can not forget our friends the farmers and we need to have more information on adaptive research and field tests for publication. Presented also in this newsletter is information on the newly released field crop varieties, Chai Nat 72 (mungbeans) and Chiang Mai 3 (soybeans). We hope that this information will be of some use to the public.

We just have got the new director, Mr. Dhanit Sophanodorn who was the director of Chiang Mai Field Crops Research Centre. The former, Mr. Suphachai Kaewmeechai have been promoted to be the field crop expert of Department of Agriculture. We would like to say “Congratulation for their success career”
