Haikus

There is a principle
Those with money have power
Is it Spring or Winter?

The luck that I have
Beats your straight-flush
Gimme five

Lines guiding lonely bodies
Left, Right
On course to destiny

Terror on the mountain;
Asphalt running into houses
Reeking of gas

Out of these four, my favorite is actually the one that is perhaps the most random and ‘out there,’ namely the second. The luck that I have is phenomenal, and I am struck by it constantly. Not only was I born to a rich family, but one with very intelligent parents and supporting older sisters. On top of that, despite numerous opportunities to have gone awry, for the most part I’ve turned out all right. This luck is very fundamental as well. I was lucky enough to have been impregnated and birthed such that my birthday is 9/11 (maybe not good lucky). I was lucky enough to have been conceived at all. I am lucky such that all of my trillions of cells all work perfectly all the time without any disturbance. The sheer immensity and complexity of human life is only now dawning on me, through AP Biology, and it is very fascinating. The ‘gimme five’ part is because I have such good luck that I don’t even need to keep my high card.
