NTUC Club and MediaCorp TV tie up to promote family-based entertainment

SINGAPORE : Fans of well-known performer Fann Wong will be able to watch the artiste at a concert at Downtown East next month.

The concert is the result of a tie-up between NTUC Club and MediaCorp TV to provide wholesome entertainment for Singaporeans.

This was no ordinary agreement signing: the CEOs of MediaCorp TV and NTUC Club used super soakers to reveal their signatures on this giant contract!

But it was a fitting way to seal a deal between two companies which are serious about fun.

For Singaporeans, the tie-up means a lot more live entertainment.

In the first weekend of September, there will be a Channel 8 Family Day Carnival right there at the Downtown East.

A single ticket will get you entry to both Wild Wild Wet and the Escape Theme Park as well as a chance to play at the game stalls.

And there will even be a concert featuring Fann Wong and J Team there.

NTUC Club also hopes to bank on the success of Downtown East as a venue for shows like Barney and Friends.

The show in June was a sell-out which attracted 50,000 people.

Chng Hee Kok, CEO, NTUC Club, said: "Doing events and concerts together you actually bring a pool of people to come and recognise the media and that's how it's going to be in the future. You've got to create a physical presence. The success of Barney and the signing event today will allow us to go several steps more. And that's organising events like a concert with Sesame Street in November and the Russian Circus in December during the school vacation."

Chua Foo Yong, CEO, MediaCorp TV, said: "We are very glad that we have this opportunity, so that we could then bring our audience to NTUC club and they have lots of activities and programmes which will definitely be able to cater to the need of our audience. I would think such recreation activities is very good for family bonding."

Tickets for the Channel 8 Family Day cost between $25 and $45 - they are on sale at Downtown East and NTUC's six clubhouses.

Tickets for the Channel 8 Family Day Carnival are $23 for adults and $15 for children.

Bulk booking of 100 tickets will entitle you to $20 adult tickets and $13 children tickets.

Fann Wong and J Team will be performing at 8pm on September 4 and 5.
