Dark blue liquid thrilled in the crystal goblet held in a feminine hand.

Serena took a sip from it, her face devoid of emotions.

The liquid was crystal clear, but has the color that resembles shattering blue diamonds. The color bore a close similarity to the eyes of her loved one.

He was a man she loved with all her heart: a man who does not love her.

The liquid looked luminous, mysterious and beautiful...

Yet, it is as deadly as it is breathtakingly elegant. Perhaps, things has always behaved thus: beautiful things are the most dangerous.

Heavy masculine strides clicked against the marble floors in the hallways. Darien frowned against this chilly and isolated castle.

Suddenly, a chill mixed with uncertain fear raised from the base of his spine.

The elegant French doors were left ajar. He entered it like a soundless ghost.

His handsome face instantly froze by the picture he beheld.

The deadly but beautiful poison.

A small amount could have killed anyone, but he saw Serena draining the entire goblet.

The liquid in her hands cast a deep, deathly light on her white dress. But Serena sat there, her robe as white as snow and her face as pale as death.

Her eyes lifted an inch, locking with his.Darien wanted to run a dagger through his chest when he saw the expression on her face.

She was smiling.

He ran up to her, knocking the poison out of her hands, and cupped her face onto his palms.

Sharp pain attacked Serena, and her elegantly winged brows knotted together. Blood started to trickle down from the corner of her mouth, staining them both with its unbearable red.

She ran a finger across his dark brows, wishing he could tell her that he loved her, for the first and the last time. Her guts hurt, like knives stabbing and twisting at the same time. But her heart was overwhelmed with pain and regret.

"I thought you'd never come." She smiled. Then her beautiful blue eyes were closed...
