Fake Jordan IV |
BACKROUND: The Air Jordan IV is one of the most sought after shoes in the game. It had a tough act to follow after the III's came out, but it definitely succeeded. What made the shoe so popular was it's difference from other brands, yet still looks awesome and performs well. After the III's and the IV's, the Air Jordan line was sure to last. They've lasted alright....These are still one of the most popular shoes and fakes are making these almost impossible to tell apart. |

The Air Jordan IV feautured mesh on almost all of the colorways. In the pink area, you can see that the mesh is fairly straight up and down and side-to-side. It is not tilted in any way. However, on a real pair, the mesh is parallel with the the lace strap that goes down the side of the shoe. This is somewhat difficult to explain, but easy to see the difference on a real pair of IV's. |
In the light blue circles, the grey seems to be a different shade from that on the midsole, which is another indicator that it's fake. It should be the same tone of grey. |
The box, outlined in green, has a few flaws. One, notice how the box seems like it could just barely fit these shoes into it? On many fake boxes, the boxes are very small compaired to normal Jordan ones. Also, in the center of the box, there shold be an indented circle with a red jumpman in it. |

Here you can see that the mesh is diagonal. Also, the lace holes are the same color, even though it may be hard to tell. |

^FAKE <-REAL |
The green lines show the difference in the width of the Herringbone traction pattern compared to the real shoe. It's a little hard to tell, but there definitely is a difference in this. |
ALSO! You can notice a significant difference in deepness of the grooves in each shoe. The real shoe is MUCH deeper. |

This is virtually impossible to prove with this picture, but if you look at the hang tag, a fake one is much thinner than a real hang tag. Also, I'm not sure about this, because every picture is different, but the hang tags might be slightly brighter on fakes than real ones...but, I'm not positive about that. It's a very small difference if it is the case. |
The tags on the tongues are another easy way to spot in fakes. Since fakes don't have the same quality as authentic Jordans, things (such as these) tags may be crooked and/or faulty. Well, on many fakes, the tags on the toungues are misplaced and crooked. The lower tag is slightly too high and it looks to be slightly tilted. The other one is ok. These tags are not always crooked, so do not look at one and say, "Oh, they're in the right spot, they're real," because they can be straight and still fake. However, if you see that they are crooked, it's a dead giveaway, so always look for this. |

Look at the area circlish area that says NIKE AIR with the swoosh. See the bottom U-part of material around it? Look how much higher it goes on teh fake pair to the left versus the real pair below. On the real pair, it goes just above each tip on the swoosh. Well, on the fake, the left side of it goes much higher than the tip, and the right it goes slightly higher. I put a pic of the real pair without the lines so you can actually see where it ends. Also, the complete area is much wider on the real shoe. |
The yellow surrounds the pull tab that you use to help pull on the shoe. If you look in the middle column, on the |
fakes you can notice that they are slightly larger than the rest, which is unlike the real thing, where all three columns are the same size. The actual little squares are rounder on the fakes too. |
This is somewhat difficult to notice, but the soles are actually wider on real the real Jordans. That's also a reason why the area I talked about in the purple writing is not as wide on fakes. |

These Fake IVs are a mess. They were trying to recreate an unreleased Air Jordan IV. These come out on September 25. |
In the purple area, the mesh is, again, crooked. It shold be tilted more. Also, the mesh is teh wrong color. It should be almost the exact same color as the grey leather on the shoe. Not only that, but the mesh is much too thick and the squares in it are a little too big. |
The Flight Tags are also placed poorly, again. They are too low on the tongue. The tags are also too light. They should be the same color as the surrounding grey. |

The face on the box is too too dark and grainy looking. Look in the Jordan XI section for more on this. |
This is not even a real colorway of Jordan IVs. For all the colorways, look at the top of the page. |
On some Air Jordan IV's, mesh was not used. The Black/Cool Grey, White/Chrome, and the White/Midnight Navy were those three. Instead, they used the method seen on these fakes. On a real pair of IV's, the holes in the leather would not be all messy, but in a nice pattern. Especially at the bottom part of the circled area, that is really messy. |

Notice the holes in this real picture are have a nice even pattern. Also, the holes themselves appear to be slightly larger too. |

Like the Jordan III's, the soles of the IV's have stars on them, even though they each have a different star shape. On these Fake IV's, you can see they took the time to try and add stars. They did a very nice job, even though the stars are incorrect. Look at the real picture to compare the two, and you'll see what I mean. That is a very up close picture of the stars below. |
