Chapter 1- Marry Me

     "Guess who?" A hand came from behind and covered over her beautiful brown eyes.
     "Hmmm...let me guess. Is it, Richard? John? or perhaps...Peter?" Barbie joked.
     "Wah...I didn’t know that there’s someone else sillier than me to want you." He uncovered her eyes. "I could always let go, and he could have you."
     "Ha!" She turned to face him and pouted. "Why...you..." She gently hit him on the chest.
     Jerry grinned and his deep dimples appeared in an instance. He caught hold of her hand. "But...I don’t want to let go just yet. I’ll miss you..."
     "Sweet talker." Barbie smiled, sweetly, as she tried to pull her hand loose from his grip.
     Jerry held tightly to her hand. "You’re not getting away that easily." He reached one hand into his shirt pocket and took out a ring. "Not without this..." He slipped the ring on her finger.
     "Jerry?" Barbie’s eyes widened.
     He wrapped his arms around her waist and stared her in the eyes. "Marry me?"
     "I..." Barbie was exasperated. "Yes. I’ll marry you."
     Jerry leaned forward to kiss her. He lifted her up and spun her around.

At the airport...
     "Have a safe trip." Barbie gripped tightly to his hand.
     "I’ll be back before you start to miss me."
     "Who said I was going to miss you? There are still a lot of guys after me...you know?"
     "Oh really? Then...perhaps...I should find me another girl during the business trip." Jerry joked.
     "Don’t you dare!" She waved her fist in front of his face. "I’ll beat her up."
     Jerry smiled and gave her a peck on the cheek. "I’ll miss you." He said, seriously.
     "So will I." She loosened her grip and watched as he headed in to the terminal. She waved goodbye to him when he turned to look at her one last time.

In Japan...
     "Thank you, Mr. Takenouchi. It is a pleasure working with you." Jerry shook his hand. "I’ll finish up all the small details and contact my boss right away."
     "Arigato...Yan San. I’m glad we were able to work together as well. Would you like to join us at the bar tonight? There are lots of pretty girls there."
     "No. It’s all right. I’ve already found the girl of my dreams. She is waiting for me in Taiwan. See..."      Jerry showed Mr. Takenouchi the picture in his wallet of Barbie and him.
     "She is very beautiful."
     "Yes, she is. We are getting married very soon."
     "You are a very lucky young man."
     Jerry smiled as he touched Barbie’s face in the photo. "Yes...I am."
     "Do you need a ride back to the hotel? I’ll ask my driver to take you there."
     "No. I want to tour around first."
     "Okay. The next time you come to Japan, don’t forget to contact me. I’ll show you around."
     "I will. Thank you."
     "No. Thank you..."
     It was raining very hard outside.
     "Oh great." Jerry sighed. "I don’t have an umbrella. Oh well..." He looked down at his briefcase. "This will have to do. He placed it over his head and ran across the street.
     A loud horn sounded. Jerry turned to look only to be blinded by a pair of bright headlights. The driver of the car braked but it was already too late. Jerry never had the chance to get out of the way.
