1.Tell us little about bands history, who formed the band and why ,when was band formed, also where are you from?
Harakiri began in about 1997. I formed the band along with Matt Reeses
(vocals) because we wanted to destroy. We felt we could play heavy shit
better than the bands that were around(we were wrong, but... ha!). We are
from indianapolis. Our history is really rather boring unless you wanna hear
gossip about drinking and stealing and lying... But since youdon't know the
people, you wouldn't really get it.

2.The bands line up,did you changed it since beginning or are you planing  to change it?
we have gone through a few drummers, a couple guitarists, and most recently
we got a new bassist. The lineup now is steady and is the best yet.

3.Who gave the name to the band, and did you changed name since early beginnings?
We have been Harakiri (pronounced har-uh-kee-ree) since the beginning. we
really just thought it sounded cool. plus we like to commit suicide.

4.Can you describe your music and compare it to some similar bands?
We play death metal mixed with grind mixed with a tiny bit of hardcore. We
kind of through in different styles of death metal. Sometimes we have
melodic riffs and sometimes straight grinding riffs. Its really quite an
original sound. nobody in any reviews has really compared us to anyone.
well, our old stuff sounded kind of like slayer. Maybe now we are a mix of
grind and cryptopsy and suffocation and at the gates... i don't know really.

5.What is your favorite band?
my favorite bands of all time are Split Lip (old indiana hc) and the doors.
My favorite metal bands right now are suffocation and monstrosity. I like
all kinds of stuff from weezer to discordance axis to hate eternal.

6.Who writes the lyrics and can you describe them?
Matt Reese, our vcalist, writes all the lyrics. He doesn't write about gore
or anything. He is really an intelligent person who has his own, very
individualized, philosophy o nlife. He writes about shit that he thinks
about. The most recent song he wrote is party about him being poor, although
that is not the story behind the song. Its more of just the imagery for the
song.

7.How many times did you played live,do you have some special act when you are on stage, and what was you best concert?
We play live about 2 times a month on average, but we are going to be
touring and playing A LOT in 2001 after our new cd comes out. we have had
many great shows, but a great one was in qubec city, canda in front of a
bunch of kids who didnt speak english. It was just way fun, and the kids
were into it. We dont really have a stage show. We just drink and act
violently. Blood has been shed on stage before....

8.Can you tell us little about your local underground scean?
The scene here in indy is lame. There are a few good bands such as legion,
necrophagous, upheaval, and burn it down, but there are also tons of lame
nu-metal bands who pretend they know whats up. Not a lot of people come to
shows around here. it is getting better though. We are trying to re-energize
the scene around here

9.Your discography and can you tell us something about your latest material,is it deferent than the old one?
we have released 3 demo's and one album so far. the demo's are no longer
available. The cd is called "reverence for madness." it is on skeptic
records from indiana. Ifyou want a copy, email me for info.
harakiri666@hotmail.com      It is 8 songs of brutal death/grind. Pretty fast
stuff for the most part. we just recorded 6 new songs for our upcoming
release on cyberdine 243 records. It is different in that we are better
musicians and it is more technical. Still very fast and brutal death/grind
though.

10.What do you think about gore grind?
I love gore grind. not so much for the lyrics, but for the crazy music.

11.Plans for the future?
tour tour tour... we are going to do a lot to supportthe new cd that will be
out early 2001. hopefully we will make it to Europe.

12.Say something for the end?
Thanks to those who have supported harakiri, and thank you for the
interview. For those who wish to hear us, you can contact me at the address
below, or you can order our cd from many distro's. Thanks! Stay fucking
brutal and drink more beer!
