Pirate Ships and their Stories
The Whydah
The pirate ship Whydah, loaded with booty from over 50 vessels, was destroyed in a storm in 1717 near Wellfleet, Mass. (USA) on a return voyage to Cape Cod. Pirate captain Samuel Bellamy and his crew all were lost. How do we know this? Why, in 1984 Barry Clifford and his crew of divers found this remarkable ship and brought to light hundreds of aritfacts and pieces of Akan jewelry and art.
