gesticulated me over, "here try these " he said,
handing me the headphones. The other end of the lead had a microphone lowered
inside the hole. "You can hear the sound of water below." And indeed it was so.
Evidence at last that Plato's story of the sources of water on top of the
mountain was true. After descending the scenic route from the volcano we headed
out into the Altiplano a short distance where we found more pools of water
bubbling up from the ground to the great delight of all our visitors – more of
the springs Plato had talked about.
