More Bitching

People that cheat at video games. Actually, I cheat at video games. I guess I should say "people that cheat and won't admit it." I cheat and I cheat my little ass off. I admit that I have no problem using a hint or a code to win a game. I even like using cheats on my friends just to let them know who their daddy is. I admit it, and I know it's cheating. Some people won't. They try to rationalize it in some way. This one guy I know was playing Baldur's Gate. It's a cool game, and I have it too. I also know you can import your own character or somebody else's into the game. I'm sorry, but that's cheating. If you have ever played Dungeons and Dragons, you know there is a huge difference playing with a 1st level character against 3 Hobgoblins with poison arows than a 20th level character against the same adversaries. I could understand a 3rd or 4th level character import to give a boost at the beginning so you don't die after one hit, but 20th? You might as well just do the code that lets you see the ending of the game. This guy rationalized it by saying they were two characters he's used for a long time and they earned everything through regular campaigning. BULLSHIT. If that is the case then the whole storyline behind Baldur's Gate is moot because your character has his own history. If he had just said "Goddamn right I'm cheating, because I don't want to die while playing," that would have been cool. Play the games as they were meant to be played, and you'll feel a greater sense of accomplishment. Admit that you're a cheater, and you'll get more respect for your honesty about your insight to your own self.
