Magnolia Grandiflora
A native of the southeastern US.,
it is one of the most magnificent of the fragrant trees.
It has large, thick, leathery dark green leaves
which are up to 10 inches long.
The large evergreen trees grow 40' to 90' tall,
and the fragrant, almost velvet-looking flowers
are 8-12 inches across.

The magnolia was designated the Louisiana state flower in 1900
