SORROWSTORM

PANAMA

Here's the interview done to Felipe of this great band.

¿what about the idea to create Sorrowstorm and why did you choose that name?

Well, I've been in several bands of diferent styles in Panama.
I started to introduce myself in the black metal culture and I wished to found a prefessional band, but here in Panama weren't good bands.
Much of them had gothic or power metal parts. Sorrowstorm is a different band in this country. For a long time I've played in Ministros del Santuario (death metal) and Sorrowstorm started in the year 2000, it isn't satanic nor anti christian, my vision is the sadness.

¿what do you like of the colombian metal?

In Panama the persons are few, so your scene is biger and best. I know too much of your scene becouse I got friends in Colombia.
I know Purulent, Twlight Glimmer, Internal Suffering, and Goretrade, they are great bands, the quality in Colombia is better that in Panama, but now it's changing with Sorrowstorm, ha, ha, ha...

¿are you in the top as muscician?

No, we are beggining!

¿tell me more about the scene in Panama?

There's a lot fans and bands already. In a time ago the scene was dead (1996 - 2000) Now cities as Chiriqui and Panama city have a lot of bands. Some good bands are: Sorrowstorm, Encryptor, Ministros del Santuario, Selah, Antaro, Lords Emigrants, Xatran, Noctrifer, Acteron, and more. On the moment death metal isn't too popular, the black and gothic/power is more popular.

¿would you like to play in Colombia?

Yes, maybe in the year 2003 or 2004!

¿tell me about your influences?

That's a lot: Lord Belial, Emperor, Arcturus, Dark Funeral, Diabolic, Angelcorpse, and Zyklon.

¿do you guess that the metal is always satanic?

There's a lot metallers which say to be satanic or something. And that is present in their music.
We the members of Sorrowstorm are christians, we aren't identificated with satanism.
There's great bands as Death, Obituary, Testament, Blind Guardian, or Opeth which have nothing in commond with the satanism.

¿Is easy to live of the music in your country?

No, and less with the metal!

¿what's the image that you got about Colombia?

We respect your scene and support far away the problems there. Sometimes the violence and the drugs don't allow to cross the limit but I hope that in a near future that changes.

¿do you have any commentary to close this interview?
