FATAL PORTRAIT
SPAIN
A great band of the label Downfall Records has released the first full lenght
album, and it's preparing the second now. Fernando (guitarist) answered this
interview presenting your band.
Hello, ¿How is the band right now?
Hello Eternal Night Zine. The band is working in two ways:
one preparing a live
for this month (October) and two preparing new songs for our second CD in 2003.
We are working very hard in that.
Why that name Fatal Portrait?
Since the beginning we were attracted by it a lot, but it's a single name;
that's united with our singer who is a King Diamond fan.
Why did you sign with DownFall Records?
Do you think of the oportunity
to go on working with that swedish label?
Fatal Portrait we recorded a demo with 4 or 5 songs to promote the band.
One copy came to Downfall Records, and we wanted to sign with it becouse it's a
little company and it put a lot of interest in us. Before to record the album
we were recorded a 7" EP with the brother company of Downfall Records: Arte de
Occulta. After that EP, Downfall Records intended us to record a CD published by
them.
About to go on working with that label, we don't have any problem.
Which is the band that most has influence?
There aren't one inspiration only, but we like too much bands. We can tell
that our influences are the swedish death metal and the well done black metal.
How is the spanish scene on the moment?
Which are the bands with
future?
The scene in Spain has grown a lot in the last years. The problem here
is the lack of support to the extrem music. In Spain are great bands
(Asgaroth, Moonshine, Gathering Darkness, Empty, etc.), but the problem
is that here aren't acces to festivals, so we have to conform to play in
small places. Furthermore the distributions is hard, but this music is
only underground in Spain. We have good luck with that, but our label has
a great distribution in Spain. So the scene in Spain has too quality but
it hasn't support.
What about the raection of the fans with the album
An elusive instinct of lascivia?
It's very good. The people says that the vocals is close to
Cradle Of Filth, but the music is different; more aggressive.
Do you know anything about the colombian metal?
I don't know the colombian scene, except what I've seen in Internet.
I got some reviews of bands as 'Feto', 'Infernal'. But that scene is really
unknown here. I hope through this interview the bands contact with me to
exchange ideas about that.
I have listened that in Spain they don't like the Colombians a lot.
¿what do you say?
That isn't true. Always there are son of a bitch,
it's absurd to hate somebody because he is of another country. The persons
are the important and the respect to the others. In fact Juan Pablo (guitar)
is from Bogota. We don't hate the colombians.
Which plans do you have to the future?
In 2003 we will record our second CD, if every thing be OK. We don't know yet
if will be released by Downfall Records. Also we want to do an euro tour.
Well, to finish tell me the line up and a last words...
Well, the line up is: Oscar (Vocals), Sergio (Drums),
Eduardo (Bass), Juan Pablo (Guitar), Fernando (Guitar)
