Main  :  Drakkin  :  Adopt  :  Arena

They might look daunting, but they're really not so bad.

1. First things first, you need to have a webpage. Where is your drakkin supposed to live otherwise, on your hard drive? I do not consider neopets pages to be acceptable. The same goes for groups (MSN, Yahoo, etc.), journals, and blogs because people seem to think that anything on them is "up for grabs". I'd suggest trying Geocities or Angelfire if you're a beginner.

2. The page you make must have a link back to this arena on every page where the drakkin is displayed. It really doesn't matter to me whether it's a text link or a banner, so long as it's there. I've typed out the URL below, so don't say you couldn't find it.

http://www.geocities.com/etea_arena/

3. You'll need to have an email account to receive hatching announcements and your drakkin's stages. There are several free hosts available, not the least of which is MyOwnEmail.com - it gives you quite a variety of choice endings and it's free.

4. On your page, you'll need someone or something from whatever world you'd like to buy the young drakkin from the breeder. They don't just magically appear in a little cave, whisked away by fairies and ready to fend for themselves. Someone has to come through a portal into the drow underworld and request to purchase them on the market, then be prepared to raise them. To do this, they need to have guts and be at least a little prone to violence. The breeder might say yes (you might be approved) or they might say no (you might be rejected), so please don't write their acceptance of your character's offer of gold or jewels or artifacts (magical or otherwise) until I give you the go-ahead. As a side note, stats tables are a plus.

5. I ask that you read the information on drakkin and the drow society provided on this site before submitting an application. It's there to help you with your pages/stories, after all. I'd rather not get any sunlit sylvan glades filled with fluffy bunnies and singing birds, since the first thing a hatchling would do is get out of the light, and the second would be to munch on that cute little bunny until he was nothing but a pile of shredded fur and a bloody cotton tail. They're not nice or peaceful, they're vicious and violent and bred to kill.

6. Violence and bloodlust can be portrayed without adding hate messages or extreme adult situations, so I don't want to see any of that on your pages please.

7. On the subject of other creatures...drakkin will not be granted to someone offering a token "critter page". There must be a buyer, maybe a few of their pets that won't be eaten by a voracious young hatchling with no moral objections to a quick snack, but not too much else creature-wise. For several good examples, please look through past buyers on the records page. Tytula is recommended, as is Helevorn (or anyone from that empire).

8. Don't direct link anything at all from this site. Also, don't steal or alter the images you may find here in any way, shape, or form. Some, like the cloudy red background, were made by me. Others are linked to their respective creators. The drakkin were very graciously drawn and colored for me by Jewel, the owner of the Sanori Gardens. Taking one when it wasn't granted to you isn't just stealing from me, it's stealing from her and that drakkin's rightful owner.

9. Requesting a certain coloration is just dandy by me, so long as at least one "common" color is requested as well (black, blue, bronze, or red). However, you must understand that my giving you a different color is also fine if I feel it necessary. There isn't always an uncommon color in a clutch, though recently the breeders have had more success in producing the captivity-bred colors of brown, green, and purple. If you've already successfully purchased an uncommonly colored drakkin then your chances of getting another one are slim unless you completely blow me away with your story. Others need to have a chance, after all.

10. Please, whatever else you may do, don't request a female. This will be both a check to make sure you've read the rules and an honest warning. If you read the information on drakkin you'll know just how rare females are and just how reluctant the ruling breeders are to lose their monopoly on the drakkin industry, even though they're required by their own laws to sell one occasionally. Just be aware that asking for a female is one of the best ways for your form to be rejected automatically.

11. If you are fortunate enough to purchase a drakkin from the ever-suspicious and choosy breeders, you will have the opportunity to name it. I request that you not call him "Killer" or "Mydniyte Maygick" or the like, as those names are...well, if you can't tell, then you might not want to adopt. I would also request that you follow the naming style of the parents - Dwahro's drakkin have single names (ex. Lefati), Inrahi's contain an apostraphe (ex. Nys'asi), and Tolethven's contain a dash (ex. Cha-kinale). It helps to determine lineage.

12. Please only apply for one hatchling every clutch. An individual persona (read: created character) may purchase up to three drakkin total. Any more than that would be too much for one being to handle without a female drakkin's dominating influence. After a character has reached their limit, you may create another person to make purchases. Basically, you'll always have the option of applying, even if you already have twenty spread between different characters!
