SP Steel Water Tank at Wendel, CA

Shown here is a 65,000 gal. Steel Water Tank, built by the Southern Pacific Railroad at Wendel, CA., now used as the community water supply tank. AS of October 14, 2002, when these pictures were taken, it had been re-roofed with all new lumber and shingles.

This well Pump House was left over from the steam locomotive days, now used for filling the water supply tank. This appears to be a shallower well than the Espee's Common Standard design used for the model. Mainly the derrick is shorter and a small standard door was used instead of a sliding door..
