There were two of these large Worthington Duplex Compound Pipeline Pumps located in the engine room part of the Boiler House. Size 25" and 42" dia. steam end, by 9 1/2" dia. oil end, with a 36" stroke. It was designed to pump 30,000 bbl. per day. Too bad that neither one was saved for a museum. But look at it this way, you very well may be driving around in what was once parts of it.
This is a condensing water circulating pump engine manufactured by the Ohmen Engine Works, San Francisco CA. It was a high speed engine to drive centrifugal pump having with an enclosed piston rod and crank shaft, this because of all the oil spray inside.
This little Scotch Yoke, Air Pumping Engine was a real beauty, and she operated at a slow speed too. I think she may have ended up in the Taft Oil Museum. Sure would like to see her run under steam again.
