Doug is in the childrens waiting room of a private hospital, he is waiting for a job interview. A young girl is bothering him he frightens her of by saying that his job is 'giving big shots to little girls' (unlike Doug to be nasty to a child). They offer Doug the job and he accepts it. He will be getting paid 90K a year and nobody will die on him. When Carol asks if he wants the job Doug replies not really but he doesn't have a choice. Molly Phillips a 10 year old girl is brought in unconscious by paramedics following a hit and run accident as she was riding her bike. Her BP is 190/40, Respiratoions 10 and she has a fractured Right Femur (Bone in the upper leg).

Benton handles her case, he quizzes Carter and Harper, Harper spots the pneumothorax so Benton shows her how to put in a chest tube whilst Carter has to take the bloods to the Lab. They stabilise Molly, her X Rays come back, Jeanie reports on them infront of Benton, Carter and Morgenstern. Morgenstern is impressed. Molly regains consciousness, Harper comforts her and Carter extubates her. She is sent for a head CT scan. Mollys mum and Dad arrive they have split up, Harper cleverly defuses a potential argument. Doug sees Mrs Rible, she is smoking Marujana (for her Glaucoma) and has been feeling light headed ever since. Mark takes her Marjuana away. Linda Farrell arrives in the ER with Dougs costume for the Charity ball, she also fixes the computer that Jerry mucked up. Dougs costume is Don Juvane (sorry I have no idea how to spell that :-) he has to wear tights, Jerry gives him the marjuana joking he will need it.

Later both Carol and Mark are seen playing Doom II against the medical staff at Mount Cyanide. It is raining heavily, Doug is on his way to the charity ball when he gets a flat tyre, he is just about to smoke the marjuana Jerry gave him earlier when a young boy 'Joey' bangs on the car window, he is shouting for help, his brother Ben is trapped in the storm drain they were playing in. Doug goes with Joey, Ben has his leg trapped in grill in the storm drain, the water level is rising due to the heavy rain.

Doug sends Joey to find a phone and call a rescue team. Doug tries to find another way in but the grate where light is coming in is locked. Ben is becoming cold and drowsy, Doug is trying to lever the grill apart with no luck. Doug has to go to his car to get a jack, crow bar and torch. Joey cannot find a phone so Doug smashes a shop window so that Joey can use the phone inside. Back in the drain Ben is barely conscious, the water level is now up to his chin. Doug jacks the grill apart to get Bens leg out whilst talking about Baseball to keep Ben awake.

Ben is free but still trapped the wrong side of the grill, Doug is smashing the rusty bolt with the crow bar, it eventually breaks and with the pressure of the water both Doug and Ben get washed out of the tunnel. Doug searches for Ben before pulling his unconscious body from under the water. He is not breathing, Doug does CPR as a news helicopter hovers overhead.

Jeanie has done all the work Benton requested and suggests a diagnosis (early as well) Benton is not thankful. Doug is still doing CPR when Joey arrives back with a policeman. Ben's airway is blocked, Doug does a Crichothyroidectomy using a penknife and biro, he suchs out some of the water, Ben finally starts breathing on his own. The paramedics arrive, Ben is Hypothermic, has a fractured left leg and possibly Cardiac arrhythmias. The news crew has landed and is filming. The closest hospital does not have and ICU so Doug persuades the Paramedics to let him take Ben in the Helicopter stright to County, he grabs supplies and a defibrillator from the Ambulance. In the chopper Ben is doing OK, the news man is transmitting live picture to Channel 5, the ER is radioed 3 min ETA.

Mark organises the ER to warm saline, blankets and call Benton. Meanwhile in the Helicopter Ben goes into Venticular Fibrillation, Doug goes to shock him but the defibrillator has not been charged. Doug does CPR whilst the news reported bags him. Molly is OK, she is playing cards with Harper but complains of stomach pains, Benton asks for an Abdominal CT aswell.

The ER is now swarming with reporters. Mark and Carol meet the Helicopter on the roof, they defibrillate Ben, 100, 150, 200, 200 Joules but no rhythm. Doug continues CPR as they wheel Ben inside.

Molly has crashed in CT, her blood pressure is low, she is probably bleeding internally from one of the mesenteric arteries. Benton is doing CPR. Ben is shocked again in the ER 200 then 300 Joules before they get a rhythm, his temperature is 82oF and he is Hypoxic. They start warming Ben. Mark orders Doug to go and put some dry clothes on and warm up.

Ben's temp has risen to 85oF but he is not wrming fast enough, they need to warm his blood. Benton stops Molly's bleeding by cross clamping the aorta whilst Carter performs in ternal Cardiac massage. She has had 4 units of O neg blood. Benton goes next door to do a femoral cut down to enable Bens blood to be warmed. Mark takes over Molly, she is shocked with the internal paddles at 10, 20 and 20 joules, ther is no rhythm, Mark eventually pronounces her dead, Carter goes to tell the parents as Harper cries. Later Ben wakes, his temp in 93oF and his vital signs are stable.

The news crew pounce on Molly's distraught parents mistaking them for Ben's parents, Carter rescues them by telling the news crew that they 'are NOT talking to them'. Mark patches up Dougs cuts and orders him to go home, as they leave the ER Doug is swamped by newscrews. He is a hero.
