Make sure horse's face is clean. If not, wipe any dust off with a plush terry cloth hand towel. Wet the towel with warm to hot water and wring it out completely. Keep it twisted until the last minute to preserve steam and then slowly and carefully open it up flat on his face. Let it sit steaming for 5-10 seconds. Then, wipe around his forelock, eyes, nose and cheeks. Repeat as often as you like. Then, take a second dry towel and gently dry his face. Rub a small amount of baby oil or lanolin around his eyes and nose to prevent chapping in cold weather.
