The Magus’ Apprentice
Once upon a time there was a miller who had three sons. The first son was strong but not very smart and he liked to beat the other two sons. The second son was lazy and always made the third son do his work. The third son was a fair looking lad who had to work hard. One day a mysterious man of obvious wealth visited the farm and asked if he could have something to eat and drink. The miller invited him in and offered him food and drink. The man paid generously for the meal. When the man was getting ready to leave he made the miller and offer. “I am a magus of considerable power and because you have been so kind miller I would like to take on one of your sons as an apprentice. For your son I will give you one bag of gold.” The miller immediately agreed and presented his three sons to the magus. The magus turned to the first son and asked: “what would you have to offer as an apprentice?” The son replied: “I am strong, I can carry your books around and protect you from thieves.” The magus turned to the second son and asked again: “what would you have to offer as an apprentice?” The son replied: “I would like to learn the art so I can use it to lighten your chores.” Then the magus turned to the third son and asked the same question. The son replied: “I do not know if I will be valuable to you, all I have done is work in the mill, but I work hard.” The magus nodded and said: “miller I will chose your third son, for he is the only one who is willing work hard, and who has the mind to learn the ways of the art.” And so the magus took the third son to his home far away across the mountains. The magus lived in a large stone house not far away from a town. The magus taught his apprentice the art and the apprentice did chores for his master. One day the magus had to go out to get some rare herbs he alone could recognise. When he left he warned the apprentice: “stay out of my study, there are still things you have not mastered.” And the magus set out to find his herbs. While the apprentice was doing his chores he grew curious. What was there in study that he had not mastered? When his curiosity overcame his sense of duty he went up to the study of the magus. Inside where ancient tomes and scrolls and jars and bottles. The apprentice went inside and sat down at the large wooden desk and began paging through the tomes. After a while there was a knocking. The apprentice looked around but saw nothing. For a while it was quiet and then the knocking came again. The apprentice ignored it and continued to read. Again he heard the knocking, and again he ignored it. Then suddenly a silken voice that was neither male nor female filled the room. “I have called three times and yet you do not answer. Why have you summoned me when you have no need of me?” The apprentice was startled and looked about the room but saw nothing. “Who are you?” There was a moment of quiet and then the voice spoke again. “You are not my master, who are you who dares to summon me?” “I am his apprentice” “A mere apprentice summons me? How dare you! I will punish you.” The apprentice panicked and yelled: “I abjure you spirit, be gone!” The spirit laughed. “You have no power over me boy.” “No but my master has and he will return shortly, in fact he can be here any moment.” “You lie boy. I can smell the deceit on your tender lips.” Then there was a puff of smoke and the smell of fire and brimstone. When the smoke cleared the spirit stood in front of the apprentice. It was a man with long auburn hair, the eyes of a cat, pale skin with a reddish glow and a tail that swished behind him. His features where sharp but fair. The spirit wore nothing save a loincloth made of chains. The spirit pointed a black clawed finger at the apprentice. “You have summoned me without the right to do so boy. Now how to punish you?” “W-w-what are you?” the apprentice stammered. “I am a demon that was summoned by your master. When he calls me I knock and he tells me what to do. Now you have called me and I can do as I please.” The apprentice wiped some of his brown hair out of his face as tears welled up in his eyes. With a half choked voice he asked: “What are you going to do to me?” “Well” said the demon “If I where a demon of wrath I would kill you. If I where a demon of gluttony I would eat you. If I where a demon of envy I would tear your eyes out to replace my own. If I where a demon of sloth I would make you do my chores. If I where a demon of pride I would make you into my mount. If I would be a demon of greed I would sell you. But I am none of those.” “Then what kind of demon are you?” the apprentice asked. “I am a demon of lust and therefor I will take your virginity.” The lad smiled and said: “but I have no virginity left, I already slept with the farmer’s daughter so there is nothing for you to take.” The demon grinned maliciously “then there is still one virginity left to take.” The demon grabbed the apprentice, turned him around and forced his face on the desk. Then he ripped the boy’s trousers off and took the apprentice’s other virginity. When the magus returned he found only the apprentice’s clothes. Immediately he read the incantation to summon his demon. Before the demon could speak the magus demanded to know what happened to his apprentice. “Your apprentice summoned me but could not control me. So I took him as my own and now he is my apprentice and I teach him the most delightful things.” The magus demanded the demon bring him back at once. “I will not do that. You are no longer my master. I have collected a soul for my master the Prince of Hell and now our bargain is over.” The magus was enraged but there was nothing he could do. He cursed the day that had cost him his apprentice and his demon servant. The apprentice though did not despair he was treated to an eternity of demonic pleasure.
