I do not plan on making any profit off of this. And as much as I would love too,
I do not own any of the CSI characters.
Nick walked into the lab where Greg was processing data. Greg then looked up
from his work, and turned towards Nick.
"Yes? How may I help you?"
"Greg, listen, I know I don't ask much of you, but I was wondering if I can stay
with you tonight. I'm bombing my house because of all the ants, and I need a
place to stay."
Greg looked at Nick with suspicion. "And, why, may I ask, of all of your
co-workers, why would you pick me?"
"Well, I'd find it inappropriate to stay with Sara or Catherine, Grissom just
plain scares me sometimes, and Warrick says he's got company."
Greg smiled. "Oh, must be having a half-off sale at 1-800- DIAL-A-HO."
"Oh, Greg. That's so funny." Nick said sarcastically. "But I'm serious. I need a
place to crash. Come on, how often is it I ask you a favor?"
"I lost count. But you can stay, as long as you sleep on the couch. I don't like
you that way. You're not exactly my type."
"Very funny Greg. I won't disturb you in your beauty sleep. God knows you need
it."
"Not as much as you, Mr. Krueger."
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."
Nick then walked out of the lab.
"See you tonight, sweetie!" yelled Greg sarcastically.
That night, Greg went home waiting for Nick to come over. He said he needed to
work overtime tonight, so Greg figured that would give him time to watch a
little tv.
It was about eight o'clock when Nick walked through the door. He had a bag with
clothes and a pillow.
"Oh, how sweet, you brought your own pillow. You spared me form giving up one of
my own. How thoughtful of you."
"Greg, just because I'm staying here tonight, doesn't mean I have to enjoy it. I
just needed a place to crash for tonight. We don't even have to talk to each
other."
"But what about all the fun I planned to have? I was hoping we could play
Twister, or eat pizza and watch the Playboy channel, just like old pals. Oh, but
of course I'll have to order the Playgirl channel just for you."
"Oh gee Greg, how hysterical can you get?"
"I got more, want to hear?"
"No, it's fine. You got anything to eat? I'm starving."
"Yeah, feel free to raid my fridge. I went shopping just so you could eat all of
my food."
"What's with the sarcasm, Greg? Why are you like this all of a sudden?"
"I don't know, I just feel like it I guess."
Nick walked into the kitchen to find something to eat. He opened the fridge to
find it was packed with junk food.
"Is that all you buy is junk food?"
"Well, of course, I gotta keep up with this figure the chicks love so much."
Nick found leftover Chinese food and decided to eat that. He walked out into the
living room and sat down on the couch next to Greg.
"So, what do you do in this apartment all by yourself?"
"Oh, Nick, I was unaware we were so close. I can't talk to you about just
anything you know."
"Forget I asked. I was just trying to be nice."
"Let's just chill and watch tv. There's really not much we can talk about."
"Greg, what I want to know is why you're always going after Sara. Can't you see
that she wants nothing to do with you?"
"And what makes you think that, Sherlock?"
"Well, it's pretty obvious Greg."
"Shows how much you know. She's always giving me the eye. I know she secretly
wants me inside that well-educated head of hers."
"Listen Greg, you and me both know that there's no chance. You try too hard,
man. You talk about all this unnecessary stuff that she could care less about.
You try way too hard to impress her. Just be yourself."
"Really, and like you have experience in this department."
"Now Greg, don't be bitter. I'm trying to help you here."
"You're right. Sara's like perfect. She's so intelligent, and gorgeous. What I
wouldn't give to just go out on a date with her."
"Well Greg, if you take on a different approach, then maybe there's a chance
she'll see the real Greg. Not the screwed up perverted lab rat you perceive
yourself to be."
"Oh, that gives me hope."
"No, I didn't mean it that way. I'm sure she'll give you the time if you change
your approach."
"I'll try, but there's no saying it will be easy."
Nick laughed, and the Greg soon followed. The rest of the night, they talked
about work, and whatever else came up. Before they knew it, they were both tired
and went to bed.
The next morning, Greg woke up to the smell of something cooking. He went out
into the kitchen to find Nick cooking breakfast.
"Well, it's about time, sleepy head. You want some breakfast?"
"I couldn't even begin to talk about all the ways this scene is wrong." Greg
said scratching his head.
"It's the least I could do. A little thank you for letting me stay here
tonight."
"No problem. It's not too often we get to do the male bonding thing. Now, when
are you leaving?"
"After breakfast. Just eat and we'll forget about it."
Greg and Nick ate breakfast, and then Nick went to work, and Greg followed about
an hour later. They met up again in the lab to discuss what approach Greg needed
to take with Sara.
They were in the lab, when they saw Sara walk into the room.
"You know what to do, Greg. She's right there just waiting for you."
"Wish me luck."
Greg then walked over to Sara.
"Can I talk to you, Sara?"
"What is it now, Greg? I don't exactly have time."
"It won't take long, I just wanted to know if maybe you would like to go to
dinner with me sometime."
"Greg, what are you trying to pull now? I thought we've had this conversation
before."
"Yeah, but all I want is one chance to talk to you. You know, have a normal
conversation without me hitting on you. I'd really like it if you could."
Sara smiled. "You know what, Greg, maybe I will. It doesn't sound like a bad
idea."
Greg smiled and then looked over toward Nick. Nick gave him a thumbs-up. Greg
then walked out of the lab.
Sara walked over to Nick. "You two obviously did some male bonding last night."
"He really likes you Sara."
"Does he really? I'm guessing this was all your idea."
Nick smiled. "No, actually he did it all by himself."

Greg Sanders walked into the lab with a huge smile on his face. Nick Stokes and
Warrick Brown were sitting at the lab table.
"Hey Greg, why are you so happy?" Warrick asked.
"Because I got a date tonight. She's an awesome person, and I can guarantee
we're going to have fun tonight."
"Oh really." Nick said. "And who is this lucky girl of yours? Anyone we know?"
"I don't think so. I met her at the movies.''
"At the movies? Well, that relationship should last." Warrick said
sarcastically.
"Yeah, well I'll be the judge of that."
Sara then walked in.
"Hey Sara." Greg said.
"Hey Greg."
"Guess what? I got a date tonight."
"Really? And how much did you pay her?"
"Very funny. I met her at the movies last night. She asked me if I wanted to go
out on a date with her tonight."
"Really?"
"Yup. Are ya jealous?" Greg asked as if he thought she would actually say yes.
"Greg, if I was jealous, don't you think I would tell you?"
"Uh, No."
"Ok, you're right. Just have fun tonight Greg, and make sure you guys end up
together. Maybe then you'll take your focus off of your fellow co-workers."
"Oh, you mean Warrick? No, that was a phase. It's all over now. Momentary lapse
of heterosexuality."
Sara gave Greg a dirty look and walked out of the room.
"Well, guys, all I ask is that you wish me luck. Even though I know I won't need
it, considering how I'm just a studmuffin."
"Greg, I was unaware that people still used that word. If that's what you're
going to call yourself, I don't think it would last long enough to remember. If
you want to keep this girl, think of something else to describe yourself." Nick
explained.
"Yeah, and meeting this girl at a movie theater doesn't really help either. I
mean, do you think this will last?" Warrick asked.
"Warrick, I don't need your opinion. All I ask is that you stand there and look
like you know what you're talking about."
Warrick then grew aggravated. "Greg, if I were you, I'd stop while I was ahead."
Greg then smiled at Warrick. "But I'm not you, that's the thing."
"Will you guys just shut up, don't you know how ridiculous you sound?" Nick
yelled.
"I know you are, but what am I?" Greg said in a childish voice.
Greg then turned to walk out of the room.
"Yeah, and Greg?," Warrick said, "That whole joke you told Sara about your lapse
of heterosexuality wasn't funny."
Greg then looked at Warrick. "Who said it as a joke?"
Greg left the room, and left Warrick speechless.
"You don't think he's serious, do you?" Warrick asked.
Nick sighed. "You never know with Greg."
Nick was sitting in the lab when Sara walked in.
"Nick, what do you think about this whole Greg having a date thing?"
"Hard to believe, huh?"
"No, it's not that, it's just…. Never mind, you wouldn't understand."
Nick looked at Sara suspiciously. "What do you mean, Sara? Where are you getting
at?"
"Nothing, Nick, it's not important."
"Oh my God, I think that you're jealous that Greg has a date. I think you want
to be the one he takes out tonight."
"Nick, you don't know what you're talking about. I am not jealous, just
suspicious."
"Suspicious? Of what? You're not going to go all CSI and try to find out where
they're going, are ya?"
"Nick, it's not like that, forget I ever said anything."
Sara walked out of the room, and left Nick with confusion. She thought what she
had told him would make him suspect something was up between her and Greg. Yeah,
he flirts with me, and is always asking me out for dinner, but I never expected
to ever think of him in that way. Sara thought. She went back to her work, and
tried not to think about her conversation with Nick. She wondered if Nick would
tell Greg about the incident. Great. She thought, And now it'll all go to his
head.
Sara was in the break room when Greg walked in.
"So, I see you wait until I have a date to figure out you had feelings for me."
Greg said with a smile on his face.
"Greg, no one said I had feelings for you, and besides, Nick can't keep his
mouth shut anyway."
"Well then what's with the 'what do you think about this whole Greg going on a
date' thing?"
"Wait, you were listening weren't you?"
"I might have been," Greg said still smiling, But let's talk about your feelings
for me."
"I DON'T HAVE FEELINGS FOR YOU!!!" Sara screamed. "I don't know what they are."
Greg looked at Sara with irritation. His smile quickly disappeared. "Well then
you better figure it out soon, because before you know it, I'll be gone, and
then you'll regret it. You can't help who you have feelings for, Sara. Just deal
with it."
Greg then stormed out of the room, and Sara realized that Greg had been
serious. Maybe he really has a thing for me. Maybe he wasn't just trying to
flirt and mess with my head. Sara thought to herself. It was then she started to
feel bad. I never meant to hurt his feelings. He never seemed to let anything
bother him before. Do I have feelings for him? Has he finally gotten to me? All
these questions were running through her head. She left the break room to go to
another crime scene.
After his shift, Greg went into the locker room, and saw Sara sitting on the
bench. Her head was down, and she looked as if she was upset about something.
Greg then took the liberty to ask her if she was all right.
"Sara? Are you okay?"
Sara looked up and smiled at Greg.
"Yeah, I'm all right, just a long day. Listen, I want to apologize for earlier.
I was out of line."
"It's okay, I understand. I was jumping to conclusions, I guess. It was none of
my business."
"No you don't understand. For the longest time, I thought that you only thought
of me as someone you could flirt and have fun with. I never would have thought
that you actually had feelings for me."
"Yeah, well, like I said, you can't help who you have feelings for."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sara said sternly.
"Sara, you think I actually thought there would be a chance that you would like
me back? You think I did it expecting you to jump in my arms and tell me you
wanted me? Sara, I knew that would never happen. But when I overheard you and
Nick talking, I got excited. I thought 'maybe I was wrong, maybe there is a
chance.' But I obviously was wrong. I know you could never have feelings for
someone like me. And it hurts. But I'll get over it. I'm pretty much used to
getting rejected. That's why when the girl asked me out, I went for it. I
thought maybe it would get my mind off of you. Sara, believe me, you don't know
what you do to me. You make me want to be another person. It's not easy trying
to leave you behind."
There was a sudden silence. Sara was speechless. It was a while before she
thought of something she could say.
"I don't know what to say Greg."
"Maybe it's best that you don't say anything. I pretty much got the picture a
long time ago."
Greg then turned to leave. He was almost out the door when Sara spilled
everything she had been keeping inside.
"Greg, I have feelings for you."
Greg turned around and looked at Sara with a tear in his eye. "It's too late,
Sara."
Greg then walked out of the room, and left Sara stunned. A tear ran down her
cheek, as she tried to hold back more.
How could I hurt him like that? How could I just let him go? Sara thought.
Then next day at work, Sara walked into the break room, and saw Nick there.
"Hey, Nick, how do you think Greg's date went last night?"
"Well, judging by how Greg seems to be, yes, on his part. I'm sure he had a
swell time."
"Well, that makes me feel a whole lot better." Sara said sarcastically.
"Sara, you really do have feelings for Greg, don't you? I can tell."
"Yeah, I told him I did last night before I left. It didn't do any good. He
doesn't care."
"Sara, I'm sure he cares. He's been chasing after you for God knows how long
now. He isn't going to give up on you overnight."
"Well, I think he already has. He told me it was too late. I took everything for
granted. And I lost it in the blink of an eye."
"You want me to talk to him?" Nick asked.
"No, I just want everything to go away. I want everything to go back to normal."
"Sara, you know that's not possible."
Sara sighed. "Yeah, but there's no saying I'm not going to try."
It was then Greg walked into the room.
"Hey, Greg how was your date last night?" Nick asked.
"Well, we skipped the restaurant, and went back to my place and made wild animal
love, and then went back for more."
There was a silence, and Sara looked irritated. She knew he was aiming that
toward her. Greg then looked at Sara and spoke again.
"We got to the restaurant, and then I realized it wasn't what I really wanted.
So I cut it short. It wasn't really a date."
Greg looked at Sara again, and then spoke up.
"Look, guys, I got a lab full of work, I'll see ya later."
Greg then walked out of the room. Sara smiled at Nick, and then got up out of
her seat, and followed Greg to the lab.
"You cut you date short?"
"Yeah, she wasn't what I wanted. I realized that the one thing I never thought I
would let go just disappeared before my eyes. And I deeply regretted it. This
thing that I wanted actually wanted me too, and I just rejected it. I'll
probably never get the chance to get it back, and it's all my fault."
Sara smiled. "Greg, you'll get it back, I know you will. I'm really confident
with that."
Greg smiled at Sara. "Sara, I'm so sorry. I had you right in front of me, and I
just let you go. I've wanted you forever, and it only took a second to lose
you."
"You didn't lose me Greg. You never will. It's my fault. I should have told you
earlier. But I was unsure. I didn't know if it was permanent, or one of those
heat-of-the-moment things. I was so confused. But then I realized everything I
dreamed of was in front of me the whole time. And here I was trying to find it
in someone else. You were just right here waiting for me."
"You're right. I've been waiting for along time. I knew I would finally get my
chance."
There was a moment of silence before their eyes met. They both leaned in, and
kissed each other on the lips.
"I've been waiting for this moment for the longest time. You have no idea." Greg
whispered.
"I think I have a pretty good idea." Sara whispered back.
"Hey, we'll have none of that in here!!" Sara and Greg heard form behind them.
Gil Grissom was standing there with a smile on his face.
"Why don't you guys take the day off. You worked really hard yesterday. You guys
deserve it."
Greg and Sara looked at each other and both smiled.
"Come on," Sara said, "Let's go to the movies."

Greg Sanders walked into the break room on a Friday afternoon waiting to start
his shift. Warrick Brown was sitting in one of the chairs reading the afternoon
paper. He looked up to see Greg there looking depressed.
"Hey, Greg, I heard what happened…"
"I don't want to talk about it." Greg snapped. "I don't want the whole building
to know."
Warrick went back to reading his paper. It was then Grissom walked in.
"Greg, I'm sorry about you and Sara. I thought you guys would never break up."
Greg then stood up. "Look, I said I didn't want to talk about it. It's bad
enough I have to go through this in the first place. And it's bad enough I have
to see her every day. Don't worry, I'm sure I can manage on my own."
Greg then stormed out of the room. Catherine ran into him on his way out.
"Gee, what's his problem?"
"Nothing," Grissom said, "Just leave him alone."
Greg was in the lab doing his work when Sara walked in. "I need these in CODIS
ASAP."
"Yes you're majesty." Greg replied. "I will make sure and make them my number
one priority."
"Greg, you don't need to be cocky like that. Just because we're not going
together anymore doesn't mean that we can't be civilized."
"I'd appreciate it if you left me alone, so I can get these done. I'll page you
with the results."
Sara walked out of the room very angry. She didn't let it bother her, though.
Greg worked the rest of the day alone.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next day Greg walked into the lab with a huge smile on his face.
"I see you're having a good day so far." Catherine exclaimed.
"You bet I am. I had a date last night with the most amazing girl. Perfect in
every way. I think this is really meant to be."
Catherine smiled. "I remember you saying that about someone else."
"Well, that someone else turned out to be the opposite of what I had expected.
The whole relationship wasn't worth it."
Greg then turned around to head toward his assigned work. It was then Nick
walked in.
"Hey, Greg, Cath told me about this new girlfriend of yours. She's supposedly
perfect."
"Yes, that she is."
"Tell me something, and you can be honest with me, did you just do this to get
Sara jealous?"
"You know what Nick," Greg replied, "If that was your business, then I'd tell
you. But I'm afraid that's just gonna have to stay with me."
"Well, just so you know, I found someone too. And she's awesome."
"Yeah, those hookers can be pretty awesome, can't they?"
"Very funny, Greggo. She's not a hooker, for your information. Just get back to
work. By the way, she's coming to visit the lab tomorrow."
"Oh, Nicky, can't wait to meet this special girl of yours. Just wait until you
meet mine. You'll drop dead on the floor she's so gorgeous."
"Yeah, I'll be the judge of that."
Nick walked out of the room with a smile in his face, and Greg just kept on
working.
The next morning Greg walked into the break room to see Warrick sitting in the
chair reading as usual.
"Hey, Greg, how's that lucky girl of yours?"
"Good, I wanted her to came to work with me today, but she said she had already
made plans. Too bad, Nicky's bringing his girlfriend today."
"Have you talked to Sara?"
"I wish not to."
"Well, she's really pissed. She thinks this whole girlfriend thing is just a
plot to make her jealous."
"Well, even if that was the truth, it's working, isn't it?"
"What's working?" Sara asked as she walked into the room.
Greg turned around to face Sara. "The so-called plot to make you jealous."
"Well, Greg, is it so-called, or is it true?"
"Sara, I would never do anything to intentionally make you mad, I guess it just
happens sometimes. I want you and I to be friends, but without the whole sexual
tension thing. I was just so broken about the break up, I wasn't considering
your feelings."
"It's all right, Greg, we all make mistakes. I just want to let you know you're
my favorite one."
"Oh, that's always good." Greg said sarcastically. He smiled, and then hugged
her. It was then Nick walked in.
"Hey, everyone, I want you to meet my new girlfriend. She's really excited to
meet you guys. Come on in, Jennifer."
Jennifer? Greg said to himself. He knew that name sounded awfully familiar. It
was then she walked in. And his worst nightmare then came true.
"Everyone, this is Jennifer."
"Yeah, I know who she is." Greg said. "I can't believe you would do this to me
Jenn." Greg exclaimed in disbelief. "How could you? With my co-worker?"
"Wait," Nick said, "This is your girlfriend, Greg?"
"Well, not anymore, Thanks for the good time, Jenn, because there'll be no
more."
Nick looked at Jennifer. "Is this true, Jenn?"
Jennifer looked speechless. "I just didn't think I could get caught."
"Well, you did, missy, and it's over. You can have her Nick, she's just garbage
to me now. And you won't need a warrant for it this time."
Greg ran out of the room, and Sara followed shortly behind.
"Well, at least I still got you, Nicky." Jennifer said in a devilish tone.
"Nick shot her an evil look. "No you don't, Jenny, it's over."
"I didn't know you guys worked together."
"Oh, and that's how you thought you would get away with it. I don't think so. I
have a hurt friend in there, not to mention a damaged ego. I can't believe you
could hurt two people at once, and feel no remorse. I feel sorry for your future
victims."
Nick stormed out of the room, and headed to where Greg was at. Meanwhile, Greg
and Sara were talking.
"You know, Greg, she's not worth being depressed over. She's just a no good
player who can't get her head on straight."
"And you think that's going to make me feel better?"
"I'm sorry, Greg, I'm not good at this kind of stuff. I try."
"I know you do, I just feel so stupid that I couldn't see it. It was right there
in front of me the whole time."
"Don't blame yourself Greg. Remember, she's the bad guy, not you. You're
amazing."
Greg looked up and smiled. "Thanks."
It was then Nick walked in.
"Greg, I'm so sorry, I had no idea."
"I know, I'm not mad at you, and you have no reason to be sorry. I'm just a
little confused right now."
"Well, if it helps, I broke up with her. I wasn't going to risk our friendship
for something that was totally not worth it."
"Thanks, Nick, I'm sure I'll be all right. It made me realize that maybe she
wasn't the right one after all. Maybe the right one was sitting in front of me
the whole time."
Greg then turned to Sara. "Sara, I'm so sorry. I really want to make it work
between us. I was just a total jerk, and I don't deserve someone like you."
Sara smiled. "I miss you Greg."
"I miss you too. Can we get back together? I really want to make this work."
Sara said nothing. She just leaned over and kissed Greg. "Of course we can. I
can't afford to lose you again."
Greg then kissed Sara back, and Nick left the room. He could only imagine what
would be going on in that lab in a few minutes. He tried not to. It brought a
smile to his face knowing Greg was happy again.
