Author’s Note

The idea for the following story is purely fictional.  Although it is based upon a fictional show, the plotline is the sole property of me, the author.  I do not claim ownership of the characters of CSI.  I merely borrowed them in order to enhance the plot.  Thank you and enjoy the story.

Police sirens blared as Nick Stokes, Catherine Willows and Greg Sanders arrived on the scene of a reported murder.  The torrential rain and wind whipped around the three CSI’s as they headed towards one of the Las Vegas policemen standing by.

“Where’s the body?” Nick asked wiping the rain out of his eyes.

“’Round back,” the cop answered and pointed to a large three story house.  As far as Nick could tell, it was dark blue with a light grey-shingled roof.

“Thanks,” Nick said and led Catherine and Greg around the side of the house where a large area was sectioned with yellow caution tape.

Catherine stepped under it and sauntered over to the dead body.  It was a Caucasian male that appeared to be in his mid thirties with dirty blond hair.  He lay contorted on the cold, wet grass naked from the waist up.  There were several abrasions on his pale arms and face, a large gash above his left eye and a bullet wound in his chest.

“I’ll check out the body, you two go check the house,” Catherine said putting on a pair of latex gloves.

“Ok,” Greg responded obediently and turned towards the house.

“Who said you were heading this investigation?” Nick asked defensively.

“Grissom,” Cat said bluntly.

“Fine,” Nick grumbled and followed Greg up to the back door.

“What was that all about?” Greg asked as they slowly entered the pitch-black premises.

“Nothing…it’s just that lately Grissom’s been giving her all the top cases when he knows Sara and I are up for that promotion and I’m getting sick of it!” Nick vented as they flipped on their flashlights and began examining the basement.
