SWBAT:  define and identify simple sentences, compound sentences, and complex sentences.

DO NOW:  Independent reading and take out your H.W. for review

  1. Review and discuss H.W.
  2. Show the second half of the presentation about the different kinds of sentence, simple, compound and complex.
  3. Explain the “recipe.”  Have students copy into their notes.
  4. Have students make up their own sentences, simple, compound and complex.  Share.
  5. If time allows we may begin H.W.:  Review Exercise E, pp. 185-186, #1-20.
  6. Review and summarize.

H.W.:  1.  Actually DO Review Exercise E, pp. 185-186, #1-20, write down which kind of sentence structure it is.J

DO NOW:  Independent reading and take out H.W.

DEVELOPMENT:

  1. Review H.W.:  Rev. Ex. #, pp. 185-186, #1-20.
  2. Review format of quiz.
  3. Answer questions as necessary.
  4. Review/summarize.

H.W.:  1.  Study for quiz tomorrow on adjective and adverb phrases, adjective and adverb clauses, and the 4 sentence types.  2.  Independent reading.
