SUPPORT GROUPS

Perhaps one of the most important things to remember is that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. If you decide to go through with the process of changing your physical sex, you will most certainly not want to do it without good support. Many of us become estranged from family and friends - either they disown us outright or they 'pretend' to be ok with what we're doing, whilst making no attempt to adjust their own interaction with you accordingly and suddenly conveniently never happening to have the time to visit or call you any more! Depending on the sort of company you usually keep, you may be blessed with some people who will stand by you. But even so, you will still need the support and advice of others who have been there before! Here is a list of places in the United Kingdom where female to male transsexuals can get support from people in the same boat!

TRANS-YORKS - Yorkshire based support group, also accepts members from a wider area. If you're in Lincolnshire then this will be the nearest group to you. Sadly if you're without your own transport you will find it hard to get to many of their events. But if you can even make it to a couple, you'll make friends who will no doubt still be there for you on the phone or Internet!

FTM LONDON - if you live in London then you are truly blessed!

STONEWALL YOUTH PROJECT - Edinburgh based support group for all those with LGBT issues.

INNER ENIGMA - Manchester support group meets monthly.

REGEN is a group in Southport run by and for transsexuals. They haven't a website yet, but you can contact them via Jake on 01704 500237 or e-mail jakehouse@supanet.com.
