Chapter eleven 1) In this chapter Kim is operating on a patient and begins to show signs of stress. He begins shaking while operating and his colleague Tom notices and takes over for him. Then later Kim gets a call to get to the hospital. When he arrives Tracy is crying and told Kim that she was told they should” prepare for the worst”. Becky has had multiple organ failure and a stroke that may have left her blind. Kim rushes into the ICU only to find his daughter surrounded by many doctors. He notices her eyes have become different and she cannot comprehend him. The doctors introduce themselves and talk about options that they may take. Kim suggests a plasmaphoresis treatment. They are against it but Kim insists. Kim also suggests on transferring her to a hospital to receive better treatment but he is shot down on the basis that it is too dangerous to transfer her now. Kim now enraged with anger rushes to the only place Becky could have contracted the dieses, the Onion Burger. Kim shouts to the manager about his daughter’s condition and that he demands to know how the burger was under-cooked. With the manager being of no assistance Kim goes to the back and pushes around the cook. Then he orders the cook to show him where they keep the meat and on the way there he backhands the pesky manager. He then takes a few patties out of their open boxes and writes down the information’s about them and begins to leave when the police arrive. 2) The incident at the Onion burger is the most significant scene in this chapter. Had Kim not gone down to the there and caused such a scene then he never would have gotten the information he so desperately wanted. Had he found out where the burgers were processed then he would know where to carry his rampage next. 3) How long will Becky be blind? Why is Amni-care so cheep? How much does the plasmaphoresis treatment cost? Do Kim and Tracy have enough money to pay for it even is Amni-care would not let them? What are the personal actions of the customers in the Onion Burger? Do any of them stop going there? Has Onion Burger had to deal with this problem before? What are the problems of E-coli? Where were the cops when they received the call? How long did it take for them to get there? 4) Kim’s explosion in the Onion Burger was completely justified. I would have done the exact same thing. The people in fast food places are rude and incompetent. I would have been terrified of Kim if I were the manager as well. Or the cook. I was especially happy for him. That should have helped him relieve some pressure. He needed a break from the trouble of the hospital and that was an excellent escape. Chapter twelve. 1) In this chapter Kim, still lamenting from the death of his daughter seeks out the answer to the slaughterhouse from which the meat came from. So Marsha used her power to get by the security guards to investigate the mincemeat plant. During this time Tracy was caught crying to Carl at her house, due to her daughters death. After several hours of searching they finally found some numbers to write down, to call later. 2) “It’s reality its hard undesirable work and the industry had always relied on immigrants. The difference is that today the workers come from Latin America, Particularly Mexico, rather tan Eastern Europe, where they came from in the past.” 3) Kim, why did you cut your daughter open? Tracey, who is Carl? Marsha, why are you helping Kim so Valiantly? Bobby Bo, who are you? Everett, why were you and Daryl racing to get to the house? |
