Interview
I recently sat down with Firefighter/EMT Jerry Jimeniz during his free time. We sat down at the table at his local residence to conduct the interview. He seemed pleasant and happy to be there. He had much to say concerning the e.coli situation. He had read toxin and only had this to say, “It was a good book at first but then it began to slow down and became unpredictable, almost childish.”
I asked him of the troubles and conditions of e.coli as he began to shine his boots. He told me that the infection attacks the stomach and makes the victim dangerously dehydrated. He hopes that no one he knows and loves ever gets the disease, for it is a danger that he never hopes to deal with.  Mr. Jimeniz informed me that if he were to encounter a victim infected with e.coli he would immediately rush them to the hospital. As the interview continued his boots became very clean and I could begin to see my own reflection. I asked him what he has to do, as an EMT, to a patient when he encounters them.
“Well the first thing I would do is take the baseline vitals and make sure they want to go to the hospital, and then warn the of the dangers.”
As the interview came to an end he informed to cook and check my food before I eat it to watch out for anything that maybe infectious. Well with his boots shined and his beeper ringing off the hook, he had things to do and lives to save. I said my good byes and made my way out the door, for I didn’t want to interfere with a hero’s work.
