"Red?" Spike called as he opened the door to the house. Willow peeked her head around the doorway of the kitchen and smiled.
"You're home early." She noticed his expression and quickly walked into the living room and pulled him to the couch. "Again?" He nodded. She sighed and put an arm around him.
"It's getting tough, Red. I mean, why don't they like me?"
"I don't know, Spike, I don't know." Once again his girlfriend had broken up with him. It seemed he couldn't keep a girl, whether it be human, demon, or vampiress. "What happened this time?"
"I wasn't demon enough for her."
"But you two had been getting along so well, I don't understand."
"She said I was soft." He decided it was best not to mention she was a telepathic demon and kept catching him thinking of Willow.
"But didn't the last demon say you were too evil  and not gentle enough?"
"Yeah." {But that was because I threatened to tear her heart out for bad-mouthing you.}
"Well, I'm sure you'll find someone who thinks you're great." ~Dumb vampire. I think you're perfect.~
"You're right, luv, like always. I just need someone who accepts me for what I am." {Someone like you.} He stood and kissed her forehead. "Thanks, Red. I'm going out to Willie's. Be back in an hour or so, alright?" She nodded and sighed as he disappeared out the door. ~It's not fair~ She opened up her book and started to read.
An hour later, Willow yawned and headed upstairs to take a shower and go to bed. ~Maybe I'll dream of him again tonight.~
Two hours after that, Spike opened the door quietly and slipped inside. His sensitive hearing caught the even heartbeat of the redhead. {Damn, she's already asleep} He hung up his duster and went up to his room. Spike shed his clothes and crawling into bed. {What naughty things will Red do in my dreams tonight?} He wondered before sleep claimed him. Neither knew how much the other wanted them.
Two weeks later: Saturday Night at the Bronze:
She'd been roped into it again. Buffy and Xander had decided to drag her to another dance. Then of course, they'd gone off to dance with Riley and Anya. So here she was, sitting at their table while two of her best friends danced with the people they loved.
"Bored, luv?"
"How could you tell?" Willow motioned to the chair next to her and it slid out. Spike nodded his thanks and sat down next to her.  "Did you bring a date?"
"Nope, meeting someone."
"Well, don't let me stop you from finding her."
"I already did." He looked pointedly at her, but she was staring down into her coke.
"Have fun."
"Willow." She looked up and met his gaze.
"What?"
"I meant you. I wanted to talk to you. Come dance with me?" ~He wants me to dance with him? Don't get your hopes up Rosenburg, you two are just friends, never mind the giant crush you have on him and the naughty dreams....~
She nodded dumbly and he led her onto the dance floor. Buffy nudged Xander and they smiled as they watched Spike wrap his arms around the redhead. Willow wrapped her arms around his neck. She gasped when she heard what music was playing.
"What's wrong, luv?"
"Nothing, I love this song." He nodded, swaying her to the music.
*sometime the snow comes down in June
sometimes the sun goes round the moon
i see the passion in your eyes
sometimes it's all a big surprise*

"I wanted to tell you  that you were right."
"About what?"
"That I'd find someone who accepted me for who I am." She looked up and realized that the look in his eyes was love. Her Spike was in love. But not with her. ~Don't cry, Rosenburg.~
"I'm happy for you two."
*'cause there was a time when all i did was wish
you'd tell me this was love
it's not the way i hoped or how i planned
but somehow it's enough*

"What do you mean?"
"Who's the lucky girl?"
"It's you, Willow. I love you."
*but now we're standing face-to-face
isn't this world a crazy place
just when i thought our chance had passed
you go and save the best for last *

"I finally realized that you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
"I always prayed you'd see that I accepted you. Every time that you'd come home after a break-up."
*all of the nights you came to me
when some silly girl had set you free
you wondered how you'd make it through
I wondered what was wrong with you
cause how could you give your love to someone else
and share your dreams with me
sometimes the very thing you're looking for
is the one thing you can't see*

They heard the lyrics and laughed softly.
"Now this is just one weird coincidence. Did you magic this song, luv?"
"Me? I thought you were going to tell me about your new girlfriend. Why would I put on such a slow song?"
He thought that over and smiled.
"Guess you're right." Spike bent his head and captured her lips in a soft kiss.
*but now we're standing face-to-face
isn't this world a crazy place
just when i thought our chance had passed
you go and save the best for last *

"Will you be mine, Willow?" She smiled.
"Forever."
*sometimes the very thing you're looking for
is the one thing you can't see*

"I'm glad I figured it out before it was too late."
"Me too," She responded, before pulling his head back down for another kiss.
* sometimes the snow comes down in June
sometimes the sun goes round the moon
just when i thought our chance had passed
you go and save the best for last
you went and saved the best for last, yeah.*
Her other two best friends stood off to the side, smiling at the couple.
"Took them long enough." Buffy said. Xander agreed.
"I was afraid they'd never get together."
"Are you two done playing matchmaker?" Riley asked his girlfriend. She looked at Xander and he nodded.
"Yep."
"Good, come with me, Ms Summers. We have some catching up to do." Anya grabbed Xander's hand.
"And we have orgasms to get to." He shrugged and followed his girlfriend, Buffy and Riley trailing behind. As they left the Bronze, Xander's voice could still be heard.
"Anya, sweetie, what have I told you about public and private topics?"
And in the middle of the dance floor, a vampire and a witch discovered that dreams really can come true.
