Cast Away. (2001 )

Summary:

Chuck Noland was an engineer of the FedEx Company. One night, when he was having dinner with his girlfriend, Kelly, he was paged to go on a plane and took the parcels to their destination. The plane had loosed contact with the airport while it was in the storm.

Afterwards, the plane was out of control and crushed into the ocean. Four crews were trapped in the cabinet, only Chuck grabbed the lifeboat and survived form the disaster.

Chuck landed on an isolated island. The first thing he did is to cry for help. He walked with his bare foot around the island to see if there was anybody around. Then he tries to collect all the floating parcels. He draws a big sign of 'help' on the beach.

Slowly, he realized that there was no hope for any help from others. He put the boat into the sea and wanted to get away from the island. However, it did not work. Big waves turned his little lifeboat up side down and Chuck was crushed into the rocks beneath the sea.

When he went back to the island, he tried to survive by working out how to get water, fire, food and shelter. He tried to open a coconut with force by any means. It just did not work. He sat down and thought. Later he used a sharpen stone to crack it open. He hurt his hand when he was trying to start a fire. He was so frustrating; thus, he threw the volleyball away with his bleeding hand. A bloody mark was left on the volleyball. He drew a smiling face on the bloody mark of volleyball and called it Wilson; it became his only 'friend' on the island. After lots of hardship, he knew how to meet his basic needs on the island.

Four years later, a plastic board flowed to the island. Chuck decided to use it as the shade against the big waves on the sea. He started to make a wooden 'boat' and took this risk to go back to the modern world. On the sea, there were big waves and big storms. The wooden 'boat' broken down and even Wilson floated away. Chuck snapped.

Suddenly a big cargo tank from the modern world appeared. It took Chuck back to the modern world. When he is back to US, FedEx Company had a ceremony to celebrate Chuck's survival. For his girlfriend, Kelly had married to another man and already has a baby girl. Her husband told Chuck that she needs more time to accept this incident. Chuck had come back to the modern life but as if he had loosed all his possessions again.

One night, he went to see Kelly. After his visit, he decided to leave Kelly alone. He said, 'I have to keep breathing, tomorrow the sun will rise, and who knows what the tides will bring in.'

The other day, he took the last parcel back to the owner, and meets the beautiful parcel owner on the crossroad.
