YOUNG FREETHINKERS ALLIANCE PRESIDENT TO APPEAR ON "POLITICALLY INCORRECT WITH BILL MAHER"
After New York Times Op-Ed Page Debut, Micah White Will Spread Young Freethinkers Alliance Message on National TV
Amherst, NY - This Friday, August 20, Young Freethinkers Alliance president Micah White will appear as a guest on "Politically Incorrect with Bil Maher," a humorous political forum series which airs on the ABC network Monday through Friday after "Nightline." Micah will appear alongside "7th Heaven" actress Beverly Mitchell, citizen Tiffany Rolland, and conservative student Nicholas Lassonde.
Though just 17 years old, Micah White has already emerged as an outspoken proponent of the freedom of religious unbelief, and a critic of attempts to solve social problems by thrusting religion into the public square.
Discussing the school shootings at Columbine High School in the New York Times on June 21, White argued, "I believe that the only outcome of any increase of religion in the schools would be an increase in anger directed against those students who are either not of the dominant religion or lack religion at all."
White is president and co-founder of the three-month-old Young Freethinkers Alliance, an organization designed to serve the needs and protect the rights of high school-aged religious unbelievers. White recently participated in the drafting of a YFA "Statement of Conviction," which reads in part: "We can no longer ignore the lack of well-organized and vocal opposition toreligious infiltration of American public education. We recognize the urgent need to promote human rights and equality in our high schools, and to combat the frequent ostracism and harassment of students who do not 'fit in' to pre-established societal and religious norms."
