DPS is required to report to the legislature the numbers of permits issued and suspended or revoked.
They don't keep stats on the reason for suspension/revokation.
Reasons range from a person moving out of the state (before the change in residency requirements) to death (dead people can't have permits, for some reason) or criminal activity which would cause a person to become ineligible.
So far, approximately 500 permits have been revoked or are currently under suspension. Sgt (Wheeler? Whelan? I'm not sure, he sounded tired and harried) said that he had the sense that the largest percentage of permits that had been suspended/revoked were related to domestic violence issues.
At the present time there are about 59K active permits, although several thousand more than that number have been issued. Many of the initial permits issued weren't renewed when they hit their 4-year expiration.
