Here is a list of some items from today's Pima LP meeting that may be of interest.

DISCLAIMER: This is an unofficial attempt at a factual representation of what I personally took away from today's meeting. Please do not consider my inclusion of any item without a personal comment about how I feel about it to imply that I either approve or disapprove thereof. (This means you, Kathy :-)

* 22 Precinct Committeemen were present.

* The bylaws were amended to use the latest version of Roberts Rules of Order.

* Bob Bushkin was elected chairman.

* Dan Starr was elected 1st Vice Chair.

* A detailed presentation was made of our "division of labor" organizational structure by Dan Starr.

* A list of potential positions up for election of candidates was given.

* It was announced that the presidential preference primary is still on. Arizona delegates to the national party are required by law to vote for whoever wins the primary. Also, in the affiliation survey ALP, Inc. sent out the response was 12 to 1 in favor of participating in the presidential primary. Precinct Committeeman were urged to call registered Libertarians in their precinct and remind them to vote.

* Delegates to the national LP convention have been selected. However, there are expected to be some open slots and anyone who wants to go to the national convention will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis.

* A summary of the judge's minute entry regarding the state party was given. The leadership of the state party is planning to file a request for clarification on who ALP's officers are, and why the voter databases should be given to individuals who are not precinct committeeman (ie Hancock/Voth). They believe the judge's ruling is inconsistent. John Zajac also expressed an interest in appealing the decision that the merger never occurred to a higher court.

* A summary of the newspaper articles relating to Ernie's threat to post the voter database on the internet was given. Some people are or are threatening to quit the party over it. A letter from Steve Dasbach of the national LP, expressing great displeasure at Ernie's threat, was read.

* Peter Schmerl and John Zajac will be attending the California LP convention on Feb. 19th, both to talk to the national LP members who will be there and to make it very clear that they AREN'T attending the ALP convention in Prescott. They will be working on convincing the national LP to take legal action to prevent ALP from using the "Libertarian Party" name, which is owned by the national LP.
