Rick DeStephens asks of a legislator (regarding Shannon's Law and it's potential for abuse):
Lastly, what is the definition of "criminally negligent"?
If someone has an accidental discharge in his home, has he just committed a felony? If not, how can we be sure an aggressive anti-gun prosecutor would not press the issue anyway?
I just learned that a hapless soul in Scottsdale, who called the police on his own accidental discharge, to assure them that all were OK and not to worry, has been referred to the county prosecutor for indictment on a felony. A FELONY. He called it in himself. No one was hurt. A FELONY. 270 people woke up dead today because their doctors made "mistakes" (100K a year, do the math), and this guy is charged with a felony. A FELONY.
