the webmaster notes; isnt that nice. in addition to turning downtown tempe into a police state with their goons from T.E.A.M and the evil DTC which has declared public property isnt public property, downtown tempe is also a corporate WELFARE state. the city steals taxes from the poor and gives it to us well off software engineers for partys and dinners. the socialists have won in downtown tempe.

Subject: [azipa] Tempe/AZIPA update

AZIPA Discussion List - http://www.azipa.org

Just wanted to give you all a brief update on Tempe's activities with AZIPA. For those of you who I haven't had a chance to meet, my name is Julia Rosen & I work in the City of Tempe's economic development office which is responsible for business retention and business attraction. Because we are eager to support the internet industry, the City underwote the cost of the October 99 AZIPA meeting at the Buttes where 550 of you came to hear Eric Raymond speak. More recently, I have had several conversations with AZIPA board members offering our assistance to find and/or pay for space for AZIPA meetings. The most recent conversation was a few weeks ago, when I offered (in fact, the space is already reserved for for Feb -May) to book a huge ASU auditorium. BTW, parking, our favorite topic :), is free after 7 pm on campus & after 6 pm in downtown Tempe. I know the board is working on these issues right now & I hope to hear from them soon.

Finally, just to give the board more work :), the Tech Oasis Partnership recently voted to designate 2 seats (out of 9) for AZIPA representatives. One of those will be filled by Ed Nusbaum, who was one of the earliest, and continues to be among the most enthusiastic supporters of the Tech Oasis concept. That concept is to create a geographic clustering of software/internet companies by providing the best possible business environment for them. The second seat will be filled by an AZIPA board member.

I have learned so much about the internet community from this list-- thank you to everyone who contributes! If you have any questions, or want more information about the Tech Oasis Partnership, please let me know. Thanks,

Julia
