This is the response I sent to Laura Trujillo this morning:
Laura, that was a great article that covered all of the points very well.
I wanted to clarify one thing, though I realize it is too late to get it
into print. Might it be possible to get it printed in an editorial or
something like that?
The clarification is about this section of the article:

Mrs. Harbert actually brought a great bolt-action 12 gauge shotgun to turn
in. Since this was exactly the type of gun we needed for the safety
programs, we asked her to donate it to us. Being on limited income, she
was looking forward to the grocery certicate, however. The little .25
caliber gun was actually one that WE gave her in trade for the good rifle;
the .25 was old, very low quality, and certainly not suitable for hunting.
Due to the under-powered caliber, it is not even a good defensive weapon.
Mrs. Harbert was glad to have her husband's old shotgun go to something
useful rather than being destroyed, and turned in the gun we gave her to
get her certificate.
Ironically, that gun was donated to us specifically to use as a "trade" for
good guns that we could use. The donation was made by my girlfriend who
recently upgraded to a Glock model 27 as her defensive weapon.
