Matt, at least one "dot.gov" here finds your list right on the mark, if not tame. I came here jaded to the intentions of most actors in DC and am still amazed by the disconnect between them and the real world. Aside for the high cost (financially, to privacy, etc), the everyday lives of most Americans would not be noticeably different if 90+% of the government were eliminated. Most "public servants" are so caught up in self-promotion and territorial preservation that they don't know just how out of touch they are--especially since they usually either only talk to each other or dismiss (as "silly"?) other informed opinions.
