Well, let me guess your first reaction. "Yeah, Right - No Way - You don't mean beaten - You mean a little ruffed up 'cause they thought he was some other criminal, right?" Wrong.

Move over Rodney King.

Marc Victor is talking to Scott today. He told me to start rounding up over 100 character witnesses. Line forms to the right.

Of course they charged him with felony resisting arrest and two other misties about not "respecting my Authori-TIE".

Scott had this done in the parking lot of a Home Depot where he had pulled in to get some stuff. He had crossed some cone markers that were protecting a firehose that he was careful to stay clear of. I don't have diagrams or deposed details. As I understand it, he was already walking toward the store when an officer demanded he ID himself. Scott insisted that he be told why. he was then viewed as not 'respecting authori-TIE' and when 1 or 2 more officers arrived a moment later they took him down violently and peppered his face with great vigor.

I'm sorry this happened to such a nice guy as Scott Grainger,... a VERY well repected Mesa business owner, former Maricopa County Libertarian Party Chairman, Candidate for U.S. Senate in 1994 that had the highest U.S. Senate percentage for a Libertarian. A man with a very supportive and loving family. A man with many good friends that love him and want a big thick shinny silver lining out of this dark cloud.

Left alone this event could be a blemish on the reputation of a very decent man, or, it will be a very large medal of honor won by a very deserving man.

Marc Victor is the perfect attorney for just this kind of effort. He loves the theatre of the trial and what he can do with it. Of course they'll offer the dropping of the "felony" if you'll just take your licks and lick the man's boots. Well, Scott is in the process of reviewing his methods of righting this evil trend of LEO abuses of individual rights, and I'll be there helping him. Very few people can even claim to deserve it more than he.

I am not ashamed to admit that tears well up in my eyes at the thought of such a good man and his family having to endure such a thing as this. To have the last shread of hope that the government can be counted on in even the slightest degree to protect your rights is a terrible realization,... I know.

So, I say it is time to put our game faces on and start setting aside even a little time for the battle to come.

I can't tell you how much I am going to enjoy this.
