My history with the band

Electric Yoghurt Version #1

The original "Electric Yoghurt" was formed in Preston, England in 1977, by me and some of my school friends. We were 15 years old at that time and had little or no musical ability ! Punk was all the rage at that time and while we were more into the progressive/hard rock scene ourselves, our musical inabilities dictated a style that was more in keeping with the punk ideals. The name "Electric Yoghurt" was invented to be in keeping with our musical style of the time. The original line-up was:

During this initial phase, we concentrated on writing very short, aggressive 3 chord songs with offensive and/or "amusing" lyrics. These early classics included "Vice is Nice" and the immortal "Coronation Street". The inability to play was matched only by the state of our equipment: I was playing a terrible Les Paul copy and we were recording through the built-in microphone on an old mono tape-recorder !

By 1978, we had improved musically (a little bit anyway) and expanded the band to a five-piece, which didn't necessarily mean that we could do things better, but we could at least do it LOUDER. The new members were:

We did actually get quite a lot better (relatively at least) after this and got a good deal less punky. Since we figured that we were getting better, we made the momentous decision to change the name of the band, to......Blue Fusion. We wrote some considerably more adventurous songs of our own (such as the Viking epic, "The Halls of Odin" and the ever-so-slightly ripped-off from Alex Harvey classic, "The Lawgiver"), as well as attempting to record cover-versions (including "Roxanne" and an awesomely awful attempt at the Thin Lizzy masterpiece, "Emerald". Musical differences (which in our case usually meant that we were all playing different music at any one time!) eventually led to our sad demise in 1979.

Electric Yoghurt Version #2

After 19 years in the wilderness, Electric Yoghurt was reborn in the form of myself and the multi-talented (tea-drinking and pizza-eating a speciality) Dr. Jimmy Miller. We began writing and recording together in 1998, so I guess we count that as the re-birth of Electric Yoghurt, although we didn't decide on using the name until the Spring of 1999. I'd mentioned my old school band to Jimmy and he liked the name so much, that we decided to re-adopt it. The rest, as they say, is history !...........
