In The Garage
Tim Visser owns this XM Falcon ute.
I recently acquired a 1964 XM Falcon ute, for a whole 500 bucks. She has a persuit 170, but I have been told by the previous owner that the 170 was replaced by a 221 engine. A new battery and a couple of shots of fuel down the carby started her first go, where we drove her across the road to her new home.
I was pleasantly suprised to find a whole list of new parts, including starter motor, radiator, 4 speed manual gearbox, ball joints and control arms, rear exhaust, amongst others. It was registered right up until 1999, and has no structural rust, only some surface rust in places.
Since I bought it, i've cleaned it all out and started stripping her down and cleaning her up to be moved to my new base in Newcastle. So far, the 14" wheels and deflated tyres (as seen in the picture) have been replaced with good 15" wheels from my EF Falcon (when that scored mag wheels) for the purpose of moving her around, the engine was tuned and cunsumables replaced so she runs alot better, again to move her from place to place. The chrome is in excellent condition, although all the rubber needs replacing. I'll also be sanding back the surface rust areas, hitting it with primer, then with some white paint to protect it from the salt air until she gets a full respray.
