![]() The next trip is to Milan, where we will be visiting Church Mission Society missionaries, Jo and Dean Ingram. We had a sunny day in Gloucester, so I photographed some of our memorable spots. This view is of Gloucester Cathedral from Hare Lane, others as we walk from Alvin Street to Gloucester Library.

We walk from Alvin St, up Worcester St under this railway bridge, here with the bird droppings being cleaned off the footpath. This double overhang house in Hare Lane is now Ye Olde Fish Shoppe.

Glass making used to involve spinning a glob into a thin sheet, so these centres were the rejects. Baker's band strikes every hour - even after 15 years ago when we first enjoyed this shop in Southgate Street.

Very ornate facades like this masterpiece in wood carving are beside modern plainness. Colonia Nerviana Glevensis - the Roman name for our Gloucester, was named after Nerva who became Emporer in AD 96, when he was over 60 years old. He died AD 98, and in 1969 archeologists excavating here found parts of an equestrian statue likely to have been of the Emperor. This reconstruction is new (since 2000).

Around two corners and we reach Gloucester Library in Brunswick St, where we use the Internet facilities. The Arts Centre across the street and the next-door buildings show diverse styles and a narrow street. Only cars with 'Handicapped' permits can park on the yellow lines.

50 year old Campagna is about a mile from Ivy Cottage, a workman's cottage about 300 years old and lovingly maintained. Below is another view of Ivy Cottage's back fence, across the street from the telephone box, and height marker (beside the ex-police station).
