Chris and Max walking beside the canal Hi,
We are at Bradford on Avon, visiting Chris and Carolyn, our daughter's UK in-laws and near to where Chris was born, so it is real Williams country!
The history books saying Romans were here, are being vindicated by real-life excavations which are unveiling Roman mosaic floors in the local school grounds - ones which appear to be preserved because a new dirt floor was put on top of them, when the building got new owners. In modern days the canal was built, fell into disuse when the railway gave faster transport, and about 10 years ago were restored. As you can see beside Max, the path side of the canal is bumper bar to bumper with long boats moored for the evening.

May God smile on you today,
Elizabeth

We relaxed and waited for the outdoor temperature to drop, before taking a walk beside the canal.
Right side of the back garden
Apple tree in better view
Apple tree and dining set
The back yard - with the apple tree in full crop took my eye. See the tree repeated, beside the dining set.
Looking out at the front road Front of the house Car and garage
Walking down the side path to the front garden, which has this tree with red berries as the corner feature. Turn around and look back at the front of the house, where we parked on the drive. We slept in the end room above the garage, which faces the back yard. As you can see the houses are built in pairs.
Hobhouse street corner Chris photographed us We strolled two by two Trying to get close to the bank.
Hobhouse Street, number 4 is the second house here. Sir Benjamin Hobhouse, a London barrister married a local girl in 1785 and became a baronet in 1812. Chris photographed us on our walk going west beside the canal, watching the boats being moored for the evening.
Carolyn beside the canal - on the aquaduct Standing beside the river, looking back at the aquaduct Inside the Inn, look at the pots
We dined at an Inn located where the aquaduct carrying the canal crosses the River Avon. The inn has an old fireplace and chamber pots hanging from the overhead beams. Odd how the 'locals' dining there, had not noticed them. We agreed it was too hot to stay indoors, so dined beside the river, down three lots of steps.
