July 18, 2003

Laura approves Hi,
On 6 July we made a sentimental visit to St John's Churchdown, where we had worshipped in 2000. Our friend Eric the Organist had a bus trip organised, with two spare seats, so we joined his merry band.
We went to Worcestershire, to a Steam Engine display at an animal refuge centre. The engines were delightful, and we closely studied this Ferguson Tractor, standing beside an orange Allis-Chalmers.
The last week has been hot - well, we slept above our sheets till Weds evening when it turned colder about 3am and we pulled up a blanket again. You probably heard that some people watered their gardens Monday and others ran out of water Tuesday. Weds was a bit wet and the rains came back Thursday. Blue sky showing today, weekend should be fine for the start of the English school holidays.

May God smile on you today,

Sorry, the labels did not photograph. The red engine has six lights glowing. We admired the spotless presentation.
Model tractor Engine Label for the engine
This model tractor is joined to a thrashing machine and spun and puffed to delight it's master. The label for this black member reads International McCormick L.A. engine is Pet/Par, 1930s, exhibited by C Taoth, Bromegrove.
Max Swans Elizabeth and ducks
We then visited Evesham and had the chance to enjoy a large nursery and ride on a model train before stopping for a walk beside this Avon River, and enjoying the swans and ducks.

The outing ended with Tea at the Hobnails Inn, a traditional Pub dating from 1479. The original beams and low ceilings remain, the Man in Charge has been there since April 1 2003 and he was eager to feed our group of 11, despite it being Sunday evening when other Pubs close their kitchens. Baps (buns) were recommended, ours were filled with braised beef, and delicious. The photos share the same car, on the extreme right of the first image.
