6th Grade Science Curriculum |
In 6th grade, students are using the Scott Foresman Science Series. Students will learn and explore the following concepts: Unit 1: Life Science Classification of Living Things Function, Growth, and Division of Cells Reproduction Body Systems Biomes Ecosystems Unit 2: Physical Science Matter Building Blocks of Matter Forces and Motion Machines Changing Energy Thermal and Light Energy Unit 3: Impacts of Technology In each chapter, students will work cooperatively to complete hands-on investigations. These investigations allow them to become amateur scientists in their classroom. Each student must problem solve and apply concept knowledge to the investigations. While conducting the experiments, students follow a six step research-based procedure and record their results in their science lab notebooks. |
