Chapter 7 Journal: Called to Love, The Gospel According to John and the Book of Revelation
SLUH Summer Theology Mega Site

1. What is the one key idea of this chapter?
The main idea of this is chapter is called to love. The chapter talks about images of Jesus. Jesus' character is based on love. "I am" statements show Jesus' love revealed to many. "I am" statements also show God in the Old Testament. The incarnation shows God's love for Jesus and then Jesus' love towards us. We must have faith and love in Jesus, like Jesus did with God. Jesus teaches to love, to serve, so that all may be one. In the end we have a choice between light and darkness. WE can either choose God's love or satan's never ending thirst for evil.

2. Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
The first idea I want to remember is our choice between light and darkness. This is a central theme in Christianity. We are tempted by the devil to wicked things, and these things do seem easier at many times. This battle is constant and everlasting, and will go till the end of time. In the end we will have to choose whether we want to be strong with God or weak with the devil.

The second idea I want to remember is when Jesus talked to the Samaritan woman. Jesus broke down many barriers when he did this. He is telling us not to have prejudices or be sexist. I want to try to be a little more considerate in these areas. An example would be my attitude towards CBC students. I need to try to be nicer or kinder to them rather than making them my enemy.

3. One image that captures the chapter for you.

4. One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.
In the constant struggle for light and darkness who do you think is winning now? Who will eventually win?
