PAY FOR VIEW: THE PRICE OF SEEING GOD ![]() ISAIAH 6.1-9 Isa 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:Isa 6:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Nothing is free. To view the masterpieces of the art world or oddoties of the carnival world, admission is charged. This is also true in things of the Spirit. Isaiah saw the throne of God and the whole earth was full of His glory. The price of this heavenly vision was to see himself "undone". Not only did he see himself in his imperfections but he was aware of his own inadequecies and those of his race. To confront our lack is difficult for us, but necessary when coming face to face with a holy God. Like Isaiah we must confess our need and sin while acknowledging the God who created us. This causes the hand of God, or in this case the seraphim, to move on our behalf. There is nothing we can do to make ourself worthy to stand in God’s presence for He has said; "...no man shall see Me, and live." Ex 33:20 Yet He removes our iniquity and purges our sin when we cry out to Him. This is the beauty of following our Lord in death to the old man and the resurrection life of the new man. Gal. 2:20,21 The blood of Jesus cleanses our sin by putting to death the sinful man and resurrecting Jesus in us, by the grace of God. Although the new birth is instantaneous, we know that becoming Christian (Christ-like) will take our life time. And how will this be accomplished? We must answer the call. "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me!" Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Matthew 5:8
