JESUS PROMISED THAT HE WOULD ARISE SEVENTY-TWO HOURS AFTER HIS BURIAL OR THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS.

Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Mat 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

Mat 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Mat 20:17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

Mat 20:18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

Mat 20:19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

LUKE SAYS THE LORD DIED AROUND THE NINTH HOUR (JEWISH RECKONING) OR 3PM THE NINTH HOUR OF THE DAYLIGHT HOURS. WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT A JEWISH DAY BEGINS AT SUNDOWN AND ENDS 24 HOURS LATER AT SUNDOWN.

Luk 23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Luk 23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

Luk 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

THEY WOULD HAVE BURIED THE BODY WITHIN THE NEXT THREE OR FOUR HOURS BECAUSE OF THE APPROACHING DARKNESS AND APPROACHING SABBATH THAT SABBATH BEING A HIGH DAY(THE PASSOVER FEAST OF THE UNLEAVENED BREAD. THE JEWISH HOLIDAYS WERE CALLED SABBATHS AS WELL AS THE WEEKLY SABBATH (Saturday).

Joh 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

JESUS WAS ALREADY RESURRECTED BEFORE SUNDAY MORNING AS WE SEE IN JOHNS ACCOUNT:

Joh 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Joh 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

THIS IS ALSO THE CASE ACCORDING TO LUKE.

Luk 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

Luk 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

Luk 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

THEREFORE WE MUST CONCLUDE THAT HIS DEATH COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FRIDAY AFTERNOON BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN THE TOMB THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS.

REMEMBER JOHN SAID THE SABBATH FOLLOWING THE LORDS DEATH WAS A HIGH DAY NOT THE WEEKLY SABBATH BUT THE JEWISH HOLIDAY, "THE PASSOVER AND FEAST OF THE UNLEAVENED BREAD" WERE BEING CELEBRATED AT THIS TIME.

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover.

Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

THERE ARE TWO SABBATHS MENTIONED DURING THIS WEEK AS WE READ THE GOSPELS AND MOST PEOPLE OVER LOOK THIS. FIRST LETS SEE WHAT MARK WRITES.

Mar 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

AND NOW LUKE’S ACCOUNT

Luk 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

Luk 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

MARKS ACCOUNT TELLS US THE WOMEN BOUGHT THE SPICES AFTER THE SABBATH AND LUKE SAYS THE SABBATH WAS DRAWING NEAR AND THEY RESTED AFTER PREPARING THE SPICES. HOW COULD THE WOMEN HAVE BOUGHT SPICES AFTER THE SABBATH THE PREPARE THEM BEFORE THE SABBATH. THUS TWO SABBATHS WITH A DAY BETWEEN THEM.

WHY WAS JESUS AND THE DISCIPLES IN JERUSALEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Mat 26:17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

Mat 26:18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

Mat 26:19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

NOW LETS PUT IT TOGETHER IN SOME SORT OF CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.

LATE TUESDAY EVENING OR THE EVE OF WEDNESDAY- JESUS AND THE DISCIPLES ATE THE PASSOVER AND THE NEW COVENANT SACRAMENTS WERE INSTITUTED, THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST OF WHICH MOST CHRISTIANS PARTAKE.

Mat 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Mat 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

LATER JUDAS BETRAYED HIM AND THAT NIGHT THE LORD WAS ARRESTED.

WEDNESDAY- JESUS WAS TRIED AND LATER CRUCIFIED AROUND 3PM

Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mat 27:47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

Mat 27:48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

Mat 27:49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

Mat 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

THIS WAS THE PREPARATION DAY OF THE ANNUAL SABBATH, WHICH BEGAN THAT EVENING.

Mar 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

Mar 15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. THE LORDS BODY WAS PLACED IN THE TOMB AT TWILIGHT. Mat 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

Mat 27:58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

Mat 27:59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

Mat 27:60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

FRIDAY-THE ANNUAL SABBATH IS NOW PAST AND THE WOMEN BUY SPICES TO ANOINT THE BODY. Mar 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

SATURDAY- THE WOMEN RESTED BECAUSE IT IS THE SABBATH DAY AND THIS IS THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT. Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. JESUS MUST HAVE AROSE AROUND SUNSET TO FULFILL HIS PROMISE AND TO START THE NEW WORKS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK BEING SUNDAY EXACTLY 72 HOURS LATER.

SUNDAY-THE WOMEN BROUGHT THE SPICES TO ANOINT THE BODY AND THE LORD HAD ALREADY RISEN. Luk 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

Mat 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Mat 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
