1976 Dusters!



Production was up in 1976 for the plymouth corp. Plymouth retained its six place again. The dusters line up was redused in 1976. The Duster 360 was dropped as a specially treated model, althought the 360 was still avalible. The gold duster and duster custom were also dropped from the line up. the now remaing dusters were the Duster, The feather duster, and silver duster, with the space package being added at the factory.

With the energy crunch and the recession hitting close to home, the economy wanted more fuel efficent cars, the feather uster was plymouths answer. Offering city milage of 22-24 mpg, and highway milage of 30-36 mpg, this model was concieved to compete with foreign and domestic cars alike,and still offer pleanty of room for five people. it featured light weight alumminum hood and trunk inner pannels intake manifold and bumper reinforcemnts. an economy-tuned engine was coupled woth three transmission options including a four speedover drive. economy axle ratios and exaust system completed the pakage. the space maker package remained as before.

Engine avalibilty consisted of the 225 cid 1-barrel slant six rated @ 100 horses, and the 318 cid 2-barrel V-8 Rated @150 horses. transmissions offerd were 3 speed manual four speed manual with over drive, and torqu-flite auto. 16 exterior colors were avalible. vinyl roofs were offered in black, white, green, parchent,dark red, silver and gold. interiors were offerd in black, white, green, blue, parchment, and gold in bench or bucket seats. The silver duster came with a dark red bench seat upholsterd in boca raton cloth and vinyl.

Production amounted to 34,681 cars. base prices were $3,216 for the duster, and $3,353 for the V-8.
