1973 Duster



Althought plymouth did execptionally well by producing 908,790 cars, it was still un able to move up from its 6th place. most of the series vehicles recieved minor facelift's.

The dusters recieved new fron end styling, as did the valiants.part of this styling was the new bumpers and ove szed rubber bumper gaurds designed to meet fedral safety standards. Rear bumpers were similar to fronts.For 1973 the christler electronic ignition was made standard equipment.

The Duster, Duster 340 and Gold Duster were carried over from 1972. The Space duster and optional sliding sun roof were avalible on all models in 1973. the space duster was designed for the active life style, for more room for cargo, and hauling. This was acomplished by the rear seat folding forward and the safety pannel backward, exposing the whole trunk which was an open area of 6.5 feet long. The duster twister was now offerd as the Twister package. on the duster only. included in package were dual racing mirriors, drip rail molding, wheel lip molding, performance hood treatment, body side tape stripe, lower deck tape, and twister decal. Engine avalibility remained the same as in 1972 but the slant six was not avalible in california. Transmissions were the same as before.

Sixteen colors were avalible, with lemon twist being an extra cost color. Vinyl roofs were avalible in black white green, gold and parchment. Interiors were offerd in five colors with either bench or bucket seats. production was 249,243 Dusters and 15,731 Duster 340's. Suggusted retail prices were $2,346 for the Duster six, $2,493 for the V-8 and $2,822 for the Duster 340!
